Stuck on MSQ because of queue times; don't know what to do.

Just came back from a long hiatus and decided to try out ffxiv again with the free game time I have. My main is a 53 ninja on Typhon datacenter (JP) though I'm living in NA.

I have the quest "Lord of the Hive" where I need to do the Thok Hard trial and every time I queue it says 30 minutes or more. I tried three times over two days and waited 30+ minutes and got nothing. I then tried again on day three and waited 75 minutes and still nothing. Tried again today (last day of game time) and waited 50+ minutes and got nothing. I have all languages selected and yet there's just nothing. I also tried the party finder and that was the same result. Just waiting and nothing happens. This is extremely frustrating. I can't progress on my character because of this and I've wasted multiple play sessions just waiting. Is this normal? I mean I get the time-zone difference but I made sure I was queuing at decent times for Japan and it didn't make any difference at all. Morning, afternoon, night, weekday, weekend; no difference. It's a shame because I was thinking of resubbing but these past few days have been a total let down.

So what am I supposed to do? I'm open to hearing suggestions.

Try and server move to the one with the Australians? The Jp df and pf is different than the NA ones in where one is strictly for practice and the other is for clears. Are you using any japanese when setting up those pfs? They can be sticklers for not helping those who don't speak Japanese at times. Other times you have to prove yourself if you do get into a group. It can be frustrating at times to find a few who just want to help.

Lately Trials are incredibly slow to queue. I had problems to do Lakshmi and Shinryu with my alt on Mana(JP) data center.
Always queue on JP prime time.

For HW content you could ask a level 70 player to do them unsynced. This way you can at least progress the MSQ.
For Stormblood ask for help in party finder or a Free Company.

Being on Tonberry and speaking english doesn't really help with finding a party, because most of the DC is JP and the DF/PF is practically all JP, and a lot will say "JP only". Eureka is practically impossible for this reason. If you're in NA however you'd benefit greatly from the NA DC instead. Better pings, english speakers, and the same time zones.

By default, the system will set duty finder to only look for English players. You'll need to change that to all languages, and the duty queue will move a lot faster.

(I was pretty hesitant about it for a while, since I don't speak any Japanese at all, but the English-only queue times are just far too long. I think it's dependent on people queuing for the roulette with the right level and roles, and it's going to take some luck to gather an eight-person party that way.)

If you're looking for an FC, ours is open and connected to a few English-speaking groups that can help you find a party.

That won't help - we're on the same data centre, so everyone is in the same queue regardless.

Ensure all languages are selected in Duty Finder.

Duty Finder > cog in the top left > Languages tab > check all languages.

    Should help.

You can also check the enter in ongoing duty option. You can enter in the place of someone that was kicked or dropped off. Can be awful, but that makes the queue move faster and in the end you get the needed clear to continue on MSQ.

A while ago the language selection have been removed from DF, now queues ignore that setting.

And also ignore dps composition (once a time DF wanted match ranged with melee) and you may end up with two ranged in same 4-man party.
