A question about ancient Ivalice's location in the timeline

Question about the first three bosses of the new raid.

So I get the impression that the bosses we fight, or at least some of them, in the Ivalice raids are beings empowered by Auracite. What's with these three bosses though? It seems strange to me that they would use auracite to transform and test us, and I don't get the feeling they could do these transformations naturally in life.

If it's the first three bosses of Oberon Monistary...

They're testing us to make sure we are powerful enough to take on Ultima. It wouldn't do for someone weak to stumble over her seal and release her and then have no way to deal with her.

That said, all the bosses we fight in the Ivalice raids are beings empowered by Auracite. Their reasons and desires for being empowered by Auracite are very different though, and that seems to play a part in what type of Lucavi they transform into and what the goals of those Lucavi are.

Yeah that's what I was talking about.

Just seems kind of odd to me as it seemed like using Auracite was a bad idea given what happens to other characters using it, and their spirits aid us against Ultima without having to transform by destroying the summoned Demi lucavi things and then making the barrier. So it just left me feeling like it was just done for the sake of having cool boss models rather than making sense but maybe I'm over thinking it.

It's not interesting, it's just plain wrong. Whoever wrote that has absolutely no knowledge of the series lore, or the geography of the respective game worlds, and is completely ignoring the fact that the devs have said multiple times that they are not the same world - just fan-service.

Yeah. Even in 4.1 the revelation that the 'Tactics' stuff took place during ancient history and the 'FF XII' stuff with Dalmasca was modern shoots down the idea even without developers clarifying, because Tactics takes place long after FF XII in the original Ivalice setting. Not to mention the various liberties taken with both aspects of the story. The idea that it's the same Ivalice in both FF XII and XIV is frankly not possible without smashing FF XII's story into pieces and awkwardly rearranging the shards.
