Now that we're ending the 4.X saga, I'd like to have a kiki about other types of weapon effects we'd like to see on the crafted primal weapons to encourage SE to innovate on the now predictable sparkly particle effects we usually get. Some are my ideas for the 4.0 glamour weapons:
Lakshmi - Main visual theme involves the vril shield that players use to reduce harmful effects/damage, and also used by adds as translucent blue shields. Suggestion: incorporate the vril shield as a large particle effect that periodically flashes around a portion of the weapon, or perhaps as small translucent blue orbs that circle the weapons continuously. The WHM cane, for example, could have a large vril shield around the top that flashes periodically.
Susano - Main visual theme is a storm (lightning/water). Suggestion: a cloud/lightning/rain tornado that circles a portion of the weapon, such as the top of the BLM staff or DRG lance.
Shinryu - This one is tough because the boss is a kitchen sink, utilizing mechanics from 2.0 primal fights. Suggestion: utilize the style of the Protostar animation to create small green particles getting sucked into the weapon, as though it is constantly charging up and gaining power. The DRK sword could, for example, be pulling green aether into its blade, which already has a glowing green edge on it.
Byakko - The wind-affiliated representation of the Four Lords. Suggestion: a large translucent white/grey tiger head (similar to Byakko's long tiger arm) that goes around the weapon. The MCH gun could have this effect to make it appear not only larger but more frightening, as one example.
Tsukuyomi - A unique light/dark and lunar theme here! Suggestion: glowing crescent moons that alternate between white and black. Incorporate the shape to add a stronger silhouette to each weapon. The MNK weapon could have glowing moons that float in the same direction as the blade; the NIN and SAM weapons could have glowing moons that circle down the blades, growing smaller until they disappear at the tip.
Suzaku - The fire representation of the Four Lords. Suggestion: utilize fiery wings and plumes. A WAR axe could have a large fiery wing effect as an extended blade over the existing metal wing. Perhaps the BRD bow looks like it is about to shoot fiery plumes instead of arrows.
Seiryu - Being affiliated with water, snakes and dragons gives us a lot to work with here. Suggestion: a translucent blue snake effect that coils around the weapon in a continuous path to make it feel alive. Works great with long weapons such as DRK, BLM, RDM, SAM etc.
