Constant crashing around (main quest) cut-scenes, 24-raids and omega: sigma quest

So for the past 3 weeks i've been dealing with crashes on main quest cut-scenes and though i've finished it all, i started dealing with crashes on 24 player raids after joining it once last week ( Labyrinth of the Ancients). As of yesterday/the day before i found out that i can't load into the Interdimensional Rift during the quest 'Return to the Rift'.

The solution that i've been using was to lower my graphics to Standard(laptop), turn off dx11 (run on dx9) and change to fullscreen which worked for the main quest cut-scenes but doesn't for the other 2 problems.

I've also contacted SE about it and they suggested that i try disabling all services that load after booting windows, saying that " This will stop most of the extra software loading when Windows boots. This is simply to check if it is another program on your PC that is causing this issue ". But it still doesn't work..

Everything is up to date including the graphics card and at this point i feel like i should reinstall the game (which i've done before and clutched some of the main quest cut-scenes) but i want to leave that as last resort because my net is trash.

Thank you for the reply.

Were any updates made to the computer at all ( windows updates)? Have you tried running the game with one display turned off? Also please try doing a clean install of the graphics drivers.

there has been windows updates made and i've just tried running with one display on and tried doing a clean install of the graphics card but it doesn't work

Thank you for the update LetoMoon.

I understand not wanting to reinstall the game, but it may end up resolving the issue. If you don't want to try that right away, I'd suggest some of the following first:

-Try deleting the locally saved data files in the 'My Documents' folder (My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV). Make sure to create a backup of this so you can replace it if it doesn't solve the issue.

-Turn off Fullscreen Optimizations. To disable this please find the "ffxiv_dx11.exe" and right click it and select properties. Then under the compatibility tab there will be a check box labeled "Disable Full Screen Optimizations". Check it and click apply.

-Set compatibility mode to Windows 7. Right click on the ffxivboot.exe file and select ‘Properties’ then select the ‘Compatibility’ tab and choose Windows 7.

that doesn't work as well. ill try reinstalling it tonight but it'll probably take me 2-3 days to download

Doing a clean reinstall of the game worked and i was able to do the sigmascape quest!! i haven't tested the 24 player raids yet because queue times are long right now.
Once i've tested the raids ill post whether or not it works.

Edit: joining raids works fine

I'm sorry it took so long to redownload the game. but luckily it seems to have resolved the issue. This thread will be moved to the 'Support Center Resolved' subforum as the issue has been resolved.
