Well that is mostly true, but playing devil's advocate here, in my time of MMORPGs I have meet a few A-hole RPers, and my share of A-hole non-RPers as well, but the majority of Rpers are nice.

I wish there was a way to private message on the boards.

Hey Kailea, threw my mules off to Ragnarok (well... they were more like Gridania-Adders and Limsa-Maelstrom really). Hopefully will aid ya in your transfer when Lodestone updates in a few hours. If things seem pretty open later next week, may try to transfer them back over.

May have to borrow some folks to fabulous up some SE offices (and steal a moogle) for the transfer.

I've been playing on RP-servers in every MMORPG I've played since several years ago, even though I'm at most a very light RPer (if even that), and they all have had one thing in common: I've liked the community a LOT. ^^

I myself have an interest in RP, so I might even join the fray one of these days, but for now what I'm seeking from Balmung is the nice community. One where you won't get bashed instantly if you happen to ask a slightly stupid question. I've had a secondary character there for a while now, just to see how it is, and so far so good!

No server is perfect, I know that. But I'm taking my chances based on earlier experiences on RP-servers.

And at the end of the day, I'd take a shell full of bad RP'ers over a bunch of gear elitists any day! RP can be learned and usually causes no harm to anyone else, whereas attitude problems are a little harder to weed out.

Here's to hoping Balmung opens up again! Some of my friends already got in a while ago when it was open, but I was still asleep. ^^;

Hmm... I would rather have cool looking gear than gear than has the very best stats. Well, I want the best gear I can get but I wont wear it if I think it looks dumb, and if its at least good gear but looks bad-ass I'll wear it over the best every time. Does that make me a RPer or a gear-middle-classist-with-a-penchant-for-style?

What is a "gear elitist"? I don't think I've ever met such a person. Nobody's ever said, "hey, your gear doesn't have five tier IV materia in each slot, you're a scrub".

The OP is so full of fail. I am not a big RP'er, but have played almost exclusively on RP servers for going on 10 years of playing MMO's? Why? RP servers, in my experience, tend to attract a more adult/mature crowd and tend to have a stronger sense of community.

My experience is pretty much the polar opposite of the OP in terms of inclusion/exclusion, elitists, etc. All of that behavior I have experienced aplenty on non-RP servers in other games like WoW, etc., as those servers tend to attract more of the "kiddies" who think they are God's gift to MMO's and care only about advancing their characters, having the best gear, etc. over anything else. They are the first to shun or kick you if you don't meet their "requirements".
