    Fix the Hempen Camise

As everybody knows, glamour is the true endgame. We're always on the hunt for the perfect look, and nothing is more disappointing than thinking you've finally found it...only to realize that it looks nothing like it's supposed to.

I didn't know what the chest piece I was looking for was called, so even after looking for it for literally more than a year, I still hadn't figured it out. I had seen it for the first time on a site that shows off people's glamours, but then couldn't find it there again either, so I had to search for it completely blind.

Well, very recently I saw it again; one of my FC mates was wearing the very top I was looking for. Excited to have that perfect glamour within my reach at last, I examined her gear and tried it on...

    Only to find THIS monstrosity:

Apologies for it being a link, I couldn't get the actual image to appear because apparently SE forums hate both prtscrn.com and imgur.

What. The hell. Is this. It looked nothing like this on my FC mate, who plays a female highlander Hyur. I couldn't believe something that looked so good could turn into something this ugly. It apparently looks different across every race, but my question is...why? And why is female highlander the only one it actually looks good on? I wanted this thing so badly until I found out what it looks like on Femqo'te, and now I'm just miffed. It's just so, so bad.

Please, SE, I am begging you, fix this thing.

The hempen camise looks different for each race for some reason. Don't know why they chose to do this, but it's always been like that.

I really hate how it's different for each class. I wish there was the option to have a certain version of the hempen camise, because I want to have the miqo'te version..

You can comment in this thread: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-Racial-Unlock

It's a long-standing request from the community to have all the racial variants of the hempen wear unlocked, and the more people who show support, the more likely it is to happen.

Thank you! I didn't know there was one already.

It's different for each race because it was originally that race's literal underwear in FFXIV 1.0 (where the player had a seperate 'small clothes' slot which would only be visible if you removed everything else, you were naturally required to have underwear equipped at all times, but could change what was equipped there - swimwear like the Moonfire Faire outfits were also classed as small clothes.). This changed in ARR when the small clothes slot was abolished, gear that was previously classed as such was reclassed as normal body and leg wear (such as the hempen chemise and pantlettes), and a default underwear appearence was added to the character models for when all gear was removed.

This is why male miqo'te, female roegadyn and female highlander hyur have such unique sets - as these race/clan/gender combinations were unavailable in 1.0, the 'small clothes' for them did not exist, and so their 'hempen' sets were created from scratch, taking advantage of the lessened restrictions on design compared to 1.0 (gear in 1.0 had to be designed with clipping issues of visible belts in mind). It's possible they may add new sets with the same design of each race/gender's outfits but unrestricted for race and gender, but it's not confirmed yet.

Neat. Learn something new every day.
