Dear Square Enix,
When I first saw the name Chocobo Forest, I had been excited that there was a possibility that my favorite FFIX minigame might be added to the game only to learn that it would not; that a proper way to integrate it into the game had yet to be determined, but was still considered.
One suggestion I can give is to make it into another map hunting game, that requires a Chocobo to find the treasure. To increase the over-all content with it, however, include a random instance like Aquapolis but have it function similarly to how Chocobo Forest, Lagoon, and Air Garden were: A small location to ride your Chocobo and have it dig with its beak until you find the treasure.
Include multiple layouts for the instance that are determined by random to keep it interesting, incorporating the minigame locations in the previous titles like in FFIX as possible map designs; though a map design of Chocobo Forest would need to be given a different name, as it is already in use.
The instance will more than likely need a timer; however, similarly to how it is in previous games, the more challenging the area is, the shorter the timer. Allow certain conditions to increase the time and other bonuses, such as finding these many items to increase remaining or increase in the number of items obtained per successful dig.
Lastly, you can include a prize/item purchase system for this as well. Similarly to how you obtain Centurio seals from Hunts, you can earn currency--be it a small amount as default from the chest to over-all performance within the random instance.
In conclusion, this is just one of many ways that this minigame may take form in this game, but I hope that this will help spark it into being. However, another suggestion would be to just gather a Chocobo Map, go to the area it points to and uses it, then be given a limited amount of time before the map crumbles away to gather as much as you can. Time would still vary depending on the rarity of the map's difficulty and/or contents.
... Also, I can't ever imagine doing this without hearing Vamo' Alla Flamenco playing in the background.
Sincerely,
Copper Fawn
P.S.
I know this is just two ideas for Chocobo Hot & Cold (one taking up the majority o the post and one at the very end), but I'd also like to see everyone else's thoughts/ideas for Chocobo Hot & Cold. Here's to hoping we see it one day!
