When you are a collector, then you want everything, just to complete your collection. If you can't complete the collection, then there is no point to further collect at all. Okay, that's a bit exaggertion, but only a little bit.

You will make compromises. Uh, this is locked behind this ranking and I can't have it. This Triple Triad card is locked behind Eureka and it's dead content because it's 2020, so I can't have it. This minion is locked behind Diadem, this mount behind PvP ranking, this Chocobo barding behind Screenshot-Contests...

And at one point the collector can't complete any of his collections anymore and will cancel his sub, because what's the point anymore?

I have all the orchestrion roll, even all from Mogst and BD Music, I have it all..
And this is the last one, they locked it behind archivement.. that maybe I will never got.
So sad.

I mean, what's the alternative? Not offer any prizes at all for difficult achievements because someone, somewhere might want to collect it but be bad at whatever activity is required?

Tbh, people might not be hating on it as much if it worked like other Gold Saucer activities where you could progress with NPCs. I would also be fine if they locked some special rewards behind the PvP side of it. But right now for a lot of people it's a game that they'll try and then never touch again. If people feel like they're getting nowhere they'll lose interest.

Nah but seriously they might change it. They caved to a minion collector with the same reasoning for the pvp leaderboard minions which got changed into a grindy achievement.

That collector argument is laughable at best. I am a collector too if there is something I can’t get, it doesn’t mean I will give up entire collection. This is the true collector
