    (Glymlit Dark Spoilers) Heirsbane?

The final boss in the dungeon has a move where she shoots her gunblade, either at a player or a Ceruleum tank.

This would imply she's using her weapon, thus the skill name?
But Heirsbane is the name of Gaius' gunblade, which raises questions. (Pg. 185 Encylopedia Eorzea)

Is this an oversight? Intentional and there's an explanation? Colloquialism for shooting a gunblade? Purely referential?

There could be many Heirsbanes. There are many Ragnaroks, Bravuras, Stardust Rods, and Gae Bolgs. In fact there are seldom any unique legendary weapons in FFXIV lore, save for Tupismati and a few others.

By the way, in japanese Heir's Bane is called "No. IX".

I imagine that it's simply a reference to Gaius's weapon, and it sounds cool. It does not appear to be Gaius's sword (he still has it) but it's a similar enough attack and weapon that they don't mind referencing it. I think there's really not much to it.

I'm thinking it is an oversight in the English localization.

I'd joke that the twins were just more of Gaius's (possibly adopted or illegitimate) children, but if that were the case, they probably wouldn't have passed vetting by the administration for guarding Varis zos Galvus...

As far as I know, Heirsbane was a standard-issue gunblade that earned its name through Gaius. It could be the genuine article recovered from Castrum Meridianum, or it could be any other number of things. That said, considering the weird gun-tonfas the other one uses have only ever been seen on Livia, I wouldn't be surprised if the weapons of the XIVth's leadership were recovered and given new owners in the name of morale.

At this point I'm leading more towards it being merely a reference.

While Gaius' gunblade is indeed not special or different from the 'default' model. It's title comes from how many heirs in-line to Solus' throne he personally killed with it to earn his position. Thus the name makes little sense for anyone who didn't also do that.

Maybe Julia did so as well during the war of succession in Varis' name? Who knows.
