    Can't play the game after 4.5 patch error 90002

    Ok firstly this issue is a little weird but all the same it has made the game unplayable for me so any and all help would be welcome. First let me explain the problem and what I have done/ discovered about the cause because its not normal at all.

    -- Technical problem since patch 4.5--

    When I create a new character and try to attune to ANY crystal be it the main one triggering the cut-scene or the smaller ones I get this error and the red disconnect symbol next to my name then booted from the game.
    "Connection to the server has been lost" Error 90002

    I can log back into the game and do whatever I like, I can take quests or just go out and kill monsters for hours ... BUT the second I try and attune to a crystal again i get error 90002 and booted from the game.

    So in order for me to learn return / teleport or able to warp around any city I have to do the following

    { Attune - disconnect - reconnect - attune again - repeat on next crystal }

    Investigating this odd issue has not been easy, I have already confirmed that it is not my network connection as playing on my laptop both with Wifi /wired does not suffer this crystal disconnect issue.
    No the only time the game will do this is when I use my main PC, the specs are as follows :

    Asus Rampage edition 10

    I7 5960x
    16GB DDR4 RAM
    GTX EVGA 1080 FTW DT
    128GB SSD / 1TB U.2 Drive.
    Windows 10 - Fresh install along with up to date drivers and a fresh install of FFXIV and nothing else.

    Is it a hardware issue ?
    Well before 4.5 I had no problems playing the game not sure how hardware could be an issue now ?
    It is also strange that FFXIV is the only game to claim a connection issue when no other online game that I play has a problem.

    Just another update if anyone actually looks at this.

    I have spend the past hour trying to do stuff in FFXIV, and I can't. At the moment this game is 100% unplayable for me and im wasting my game time thanks.

    I'v discovered that doing anything in this game that causes and "interaction" leading to the red bar to fill be it attuning to a crystal or picking up and item will lead to me being disconnected.
    I can't even do the level 1 50 exp quest to pick up 5 things because picking up the fist one is an interaction and boots me right out.

    I honestly have no idea what to do anymore, all i can do is run around the world doing nothing.. I'm to afraid to case stone on a monster in case the casting timer triggers a disconnection to.

    Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

    If you aren't having issues with your other PC, it's more likely that you are having a problem with this PC itself. I'm not sure what you've tried yet, so I will list a few things here first.

    -Make sure your anti-virus/firewall has the appropriate exceptions for Final Fantasy XIV (you can temporarily disable them while you try to connect as well).

    -Use a wired connection as opposed to wireless if you aren't already.

    -Try a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC.

    -Adjust the following Internet Explorer setting:
    Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.

    Thank you for the reply but I am afraid to say nothing helped fix my problem, also allow me to give more information on what i have done.

    FRESH install of windows 10 with only the drivers for the motherboard and GPU
    FRESH download and install of FFXIV
    No antivirus installed and firewall disabled

    Wired connection results in disconnection
    Wifi connection has no problem

    I don't know what is wrong with my PC before 4.5 it played FFXIV without a problem on a wired connection, but since then It just don't.
    However I can play any other online game and I have no connection problems at all, FFXIV is the only game that is giving me issues.

    Just though I would add something a bit weird.

    Reinstalled windows 10 fresh, installed drivers and ran the game...and it worked fine for a while but eventually I got the same disconnection error.

    I'm really not sure what the problem is anymore, I have contacted Asus about this but because FFXIV is the only game giving me issues I am sure they will say the fault lied with SE

    I'm wondering if the 4.5 patch changed something that is not making it compatible with something.

    -Try a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC.

    -Adjust the following Internet Explorer setting:
    Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.

    I had been in contact with Asus about this Ethernet issue, and according to them if Final Fantasy XIV is the only game that is giving me issues then it is not a hardware or driver issue on my end.
    And the fact that the game worked fine before patch 4.5 leads them to strongly believe the problem is with SE.
    However they are still looking it this as am I, so i hope someone can find something wrong as I am getting nothing done

    Well I will use this one since it has the most information.

    Sadly you will never see me online since patch 4.5 has made it unplayable for me. As in my earlier posts Since the patch I get 90002 every time I do an interaction like casting cure or picking something up.
    It is not my hardware as I have tried a Ethernet connection with a PCIe Ethernet card and a USB 3.0 to Ethernet adapter, using either of them still gave me a 90002 error.
    Also every other MMO that I play have 0% issues with my connection, neither did FFXIV until the patch.

    So whatever has happened has to be on SE end ...but sadly I am not getting much support in the matter from support.. I have a month left of game time I basically can't use.
