Most of them don't have the motivation to play their mains because they care too much about the end result of a game when they do or because they want to play a different job. I mean if you look at Sotek for example, his alt is a NIN; which I thought played well compared to the 3 or 4 other melee active on ladder - I'm sure he'd rather enjoy quick melee queues in plat rather than put his main into minus by queueing a new job on that or speaking 3 hours to play 5 games (and on that basis, any ranged player would rather Sotek played his NIN lol); or Lloyd's NIN alt which plays well but he likes to "test" things on it because training doesn't pop and most customs only seem to happen in the French PvP community or people in FRC atm. Why would he test those things on his main when he usually goes for top 20. I've ran 3 alts for the last two seasons, being a non-PS4 player they go virtually unnoticed (and in some cases complimented because people haven't worked out it's me) but you bet if I role swap on my main I'm going to get flamed for not playing my strongest jobs. Lloyd's two biggest mistakes were making a NIN alt with a Swedish name ergo so people would figure out quickly it's him (with those stupid additionals he might have actually gotten away with just lying about it) and ever being a part of PvP discords; considering he can hardly play his alt in peace now either. I still remember when people wouldn't shut up about how good my MCH was until they figured out it was actually just me but with a name change (even after admitting it was me both on twitch and discord within an hour of doing it).

But back onto your point, they don't have any reason to queue their mains when they're safe, it's more fun to play an alt and actually try to enjoy climbing rather than arguing in Discord all evening because you're accessible and having memes throw your games.

About Lloyd's case, he tried things out so much his alt ended up in Top10, which goes beyond just "wanting to try things up." You could even argue that Kebab was more the main than the alt last season.

As for the point of queuing whole point of the "High Score" change was to make "safe" something that didn't make you afk and go on alt. SE went as far as to make queuing virtually riskless for one's top100 standing, so the excuse of "no point to queue once safe" because you might lose rating doesn't stand.

No matter what alt players (especially the cases I wrote about initially - making an alt to train in lower ranks and not putting it in top100 is ok in my book) think though, since at the core it's still a blatant disregard for the rest of the playerbase, and SE needs to act upon it.

I don't care about losing rating that much, especially if I'm safe - it just isn't fun to lose period, for many of us rating has nothing to do with it you just the following tilt. Why would I queue to play 2 games an hour on my Range Main when I can just have an army of alts in different roles and play as much as I want, I got +5 in 3 hours last session and I didn't even play that many games (maybe 4 or 5). In contrast, my GF is around 100 rating lower than me and has played Feast for less than a week and I started from Silver; but healer queues lul. If I queue healer on my main I'm getting flamed.

You can be on a team entirely composed of people who are safe and probably won't reach top 20 and they will still bicker and throw games if they don't get their own way despite not really having anything to gain or lose, it isn't fun.
