Once you gather enough, you'll know where they are without searching for them. The dots won't be on the map, but they'll be in your head.

I don't think this is true, I have gathered a fair bit but can't remember where every node is.

Halatali for example nodes appear outside and inside mountains its too much to remember, plus when you are moving between different zones you tend to forget the last zone.
