Unable to specify a character by entering their name..

From patch notes: - Other than the /tell text command, it is no longer possible to specify a character by entering their character name.

Why on earth would they change this?

My assumption is that they're adding (or have added already?) cross-world Friends List and Blacklist, so simply typing a name would cause issues (since there could be someone with that same name on a different server).

When using the /tell text command, it is now necessary to add "@[Home World]" to the character name (no space).
    * This change is to accommodate the World visit system, planned for inclusion in Patch 4.57, which allows multiple players with the same name to be present in any given World.

Still tho, I don't see the need to remove the ability to use character names in macros. Macros such as /follow, /invite, /target etc. without having to manually target the character first).

They should still let us type /follow Amp@Ragnarok for example.

It's not working with commands other than /tell. That's the issue.

Do you actually need to do the @homeworld thing for all tells now, even people on your own server? (I didn't send or receive any tells tonight and forgot about that until just now.)

To avoid all that complications, SE may ask to make our names unique for datacenter. There will be victims here and there, but problem solved.

I think that could get really messy.

Anyone who has used the name generator for their character is quite likely to overlap. Especially for male Sun Seekers who are almost 100% going to have the surname Tia, greatly reducing the number of possible generated names. From memory I think Moon Keepers have a limited surname pool as well, though not to the same extent.

And then there are certain NPC clones who have probably already got multiple variations on every server...

You're definitely not. It was already an irritating task to try and add someone to the blacklist before, but now it's almost as if they made it HARDER. I understand that a lot of it is in prep for cross-world visiting and whatnot, but I shouldn't have to wait for the person I'm trying to block to talk in chat, especially considering that I would already be trying to avoid them in the first.

Maybe SE needs take as default our world, if we don't specify it. Makes thing easier and won't kill their work.
