I regularly see speedos, bikinis, and snowmen in trials, in cities, out in the world hunting or gathering - I don't care. My character is dressed to suit my tastes and appears the way I like them in MSQ cutscenes, which is the only real place immersion matters. If someone wants to rock a head to toe neon green outfit while running the new raid thats their prerogative.
Your character is wearing modern looking mens clothes. You look just as out of place as a Snowman lol.
My clothes is the Scion's gear you get from Tataru during the MSQ (can't remember the name of the set). The only changes are the hat, gloves and boots which come from the Archaeoskin (or Wyvernskin, again can't remember off the top of my head) gathering set. And that set is just used on one of my classes and only temporary. I plan to go back to the regular gear set once I get my 70 gear.I regularly see speedos, bikinis, and snowmen in trials, in cities, out in the world hunting or gathering - I don't care. I find it endlessly hilarious (and more than a little aggravating) that people like to dismiss others input with "this is fiction, the real world doesn't apply" when it doesn't agree with them (the game has a parallel to medieval times), but are more than happy to use real world examples for something they want ("men can wear dresses IRL"). Honestly, make up your minds...

My point was that your current clothes look like something a guy could wear to the mall today, in real life. As you said earlier, this is a game with knights and tunics..which your glam does not really mesh with... And thats completely fine! You don't need to justify your aesthetic, its your character.
I just don't think you're in a position to talk about immersion ruining outfits when your own character does not adhere to the dress code :P
The fact that it's from the Scions as a sort of uniform makes it part of the dress code. I didn't design the aesthetics of it, I just liked the way it looked. It's similar in style to Alphinaud, Alisaie and Y'shtola's outfits if I hadn't dyed it, yet no-one seems to think their attire is immersion ruining. My point was that your current clothes look like something a guy could wear to the mall today, in real life. You can't really play the immersion card anymore. That went out the window a long time ago. If immersion was a priority mounts like the Goobue, Behemoth and other non-winged animals wouldn't be able to fly. If you point the finger at magic, then magically a man could glam his manly gear to look like a woman's gear. You could also magically make yourself fly. Immersion only works if the rules for the world are never broken and strictly followed by the devs, story writers and the players themselves. It's hard to be immersed in a "time period" when you've got Bikinis, Chocobo heads, and modern street clothes in a "old world fantasy" game. There's this little thing called immersion. XIV takes place in a time when men dressed like men and women dressed like women. There were exceptions, but it wasn't the norm. If they start letting everybody wear whatever they want then they might as well just give up on trying to tell a serious story. If there's a giant muscular roe running point wearing a wedding dress and heels during a dungeon then how are you expected to take the encounter seriously?
I get that this a game meant for entertainment purposes so concessions can be made (i.e the bunny suit and other crazier sets), but at the same time they're still trying tell a specific story in a specific setting so things need to be a specific way.

Not quite that, but I had a neon sky blue glamour for the new raid. As AST. Blue brightlily corsaige, quaintrielle's ruffled dress, claws of the beast, bridesmaid's tights, and bridesmaid's sandals. All in that metallic sky blue (speaking of, metallic neon hot pink dye when?)... so yeah, I add to that list. It looked very out of place in an old fantasy setting, but it is my character after all.
White Mage ~ Scholar ~ PaladinBoi if you got kicked for the same thing in over 20 duties I strongly suggest you think hard on whatever the hell it is you're doing
As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

I used to tank in a variant of this outfit (different boots and upgraded to a much cuter necklace) Am I like, breaking the time line by doing my best job cross dressing and not wearing armor while I tank????
Oh god, am I the reason SB's story wasn't as well received as HW!? WHAT HAVE I DONE!?!
