    Far Eastern Smock

    Dear SE, dear devs,

    I was elated to see we are FINALLY getting some of the glam we have been seeing all around us, namely the Ishgardian Gown and Far Eastern Smock via MGP...

    ... only to then be MASSIVELY disappointed to see the Far Eastern Smock being male only. Really, it's a body piece ladies wear just as well, so PLEASE remove the gender lock. We have far far far FAR too few "eastern" themed glam options as it is anyway, especially given we are 1.5 years into a somewhat "eastern" themed expac.

    Pleaaaase make it available for female and male chars, pretty please with cherry on top?

    This is probably the only time I'll complain about something being male exclusive. It really shouldn't be.

    Agreed. This absolutely needs to be gender neutral! We see female npcs going around in this thing all the time, and I would love the chance to make a good samurai glamour with it!

    This should absolutely have the gender lock removed...as long as the female-only dress it was released alongside has its lock removed as well. I really hate that SE has decided to go with arbitrarily locking items in order to keep things fair, but one way or another, things must be kept fair.

    If the devs are really that concerned about keeping the gender lock -- which many players have asked to be removed entirely and across the board, mind you -- always 100% equal for both genders there would be a simple solution: Remove it from the Eastern Smock, release the Eastern Kimono-style garment we have seen 23823 NPCs in Doma and Hingashi wear and so many have asked for (just as for more eastern-themed NORMAL clothing, period), and also release a male-only piece of Ishgardian glam.

    That way things would be kept even with the Eastern vs. Ishgardian glam, and male vs. female.

    It SHOULD be noted though the devs have proven not having any issues removing gender locks if enough people pine for it, without any "compensation" for the other gender and even if it leads to... well, things that are not in tune with "traditional gendered clothing", either (and mind you, I am all for having the choice of crossdressing, thus I love every piece of gender lock removed). Case in point: The bunny suit from the Golden Saucer, which is about as female as it can get, yet they removed the gender lock and we now have the interesting sight of make Roe bunnies hopping through the Quicksand of Balmung... ^^;

    It took four years of constantly complaining at every fanfest and many many threads to get that done. And it took years of people complaining about the inequality of females getting exclusives while men got shared looks (or nothing at all) for dudes to start getting nice things for themselves.

    I agree that the smock should be neutral. It's very clearly locked just so men can't complain that we got nothing when the girls get another nice dress they've been asking for. And I think SE should stop locking things in general so people can wear whatever they want. But so long as they are locking gear by gender, they need to be making good faith efforts to keep it fair. The smock was probably a convinent choice they didn't have to put much effort into after fitting the dress to all the races.
