    Utility of Conditional Abilities

    Having put a bit of time into Pugilist, I have noticed that a few abilities are only able to be used after I evade. I also use a Lancer ability that activates when I miss. The problem I often have is that I can't constantly watch my action bar for when those conditional abilities activate, and I usually miss the combat text on the screen informing me of the occurrence of said condition. So what happens is often times I miss activating an ability simply because I don't see the condition happen.

    That got me to thinking, it might be useful if when those conditional abilities become active on my action bar, it would give me a subtle flash to indicate it is available for use. Nothing major, just enough to catch my peripheral vision. It could even be an elective feature, controlled in the config menu.

    So, out of curiosity, how many others have a similar experience and would find such a feature useful?

    I've got the same issue, I used to think those abilities where awsome when I first got them, but then I found out they're extremely hard to use in party when there's a big mess on the screan/chat log.

    I think the main issue is that those skills are always active on the action bar once you get enough TP, they should be active only when you're allowed to use them, also because most of them can be executed on a really short amount of time and often even if I notice I'm allowed to use them I can't do it in time due to lag or stamina.

    Very good idea. A flashing halo as well as activating the skill on the bar when its usable. Most of those skills do need a bigger window too.

    I love the halo idea, just a flash on the button on your bar or something. Phalanx is a great ability and knowing when it is active would be great I am been hopeing that SE would of put it in since Beta, but now that the sugestion is out there I hope if becoems more apparent to them.

    Something to signify you can use these ability would be helpful. Flash, halo over icon, color change of the ability icon.

    This is something all the conditional abilities could use.

    I like that idea. It's odd that those skills are always look like they could be used at any time when if fact they can't. Having them be greyed out when they can't be activated would be very helpful.

    I'd also like more customization to the chat log so that I can alter every instance of "evade" "parry" and "miss" and change them to bold, bright yellow text.

    Yea I was looking for a better way to modify the chat text but the best I could do was to get ride of most of the combat text just so I could use phalynx on CD. If they don't want to make it that easy to see they would include an animation that would have you physically evade while preforming another action like a block and attack animation or a dodge and jab animation so you could still see the block or dodge action. I think SE wanted you to look at your character to see if you dodge or block or something, but the problem is that if you have an abilites or attack that goes off at the same time or in quick succession or have another animation in progress you lose the block/dodge animations. Combo animations would be a pain to implement it would be just easier for a halo or greyed out system like mentioned here.
