    Spelling mistake I think!

    Miounne - Gridania - "A slippery stone"

"But there is more. The goldsmiths are wont to recount an ancient legend concerning a stone in which a great elemental.."

Are wont? Unless that is some fancy old speak, in which case I apologise. Perhaps it's meant to say "are woe".

    Well there it is!

It is indeed NOT a spelling mistake. "Wont" basically means "As they tend to do" "What's normal for them" etc. It is most commonly used in the phrase "As is their wont" or "As they are wont to do".

Changing it to "Are woe" would actually give the exact OPPOSITE meaning.

Also, in case anyone is curious (since this has come up on multiple occasions), "wont" is pronounced more like "want" instead of "won't". Just like the "o" sound in the word "honk".

"Wont" doesn't quite mean "want" (the post above sums up what it means quite nicely), but it is close enough that perhaps pronouncing it that way will make these sentences make more sense to those of you who haven't encountered the word before.

Thanks to all the kind souls who field these queries! Your help is much appreciated!

Someday my fellow localizers and I can leave Square Enix knowing that we helped introduce the word 'wont' to a new generation of gamers. /wipestearfromeye
