Stop thinking of Blue Mage as a job class to be used for content. Start thinking of Blue Mage as its own mini-game, like Verminion/Triple Triad, the difference is it can be used on overworld/dungeons/trials/Masked Carnivale content.

do we really need yet another salt mine thread for BLU? They stated time and time again that it is a solo job AND that it won't cap at 80 in Shadowbringers. there's interviews and stuff all over the internet about that geez
@Raldo if it were so simple I wouldn't be so upset. A lot of important story cutscenes happen either at the beginning or end of quests, along with those that happen whenever you click on a shimmering storyline battle. I don't want to have to go back to the inn to resee all the cutscenes. I want to experience them right then and there. I don't think what I'm asking for is much.
@SoleilAlphi if you have the links to these interviews could you please post them? If they don't reach level 80 in Shadowbringers then whoever designed Blue Mage really did design it as a mini game, and not a job. However this is not what a lot of people want. We want a unique job that can participate in solo content. Being able to accept/end/progress the main quest is solo content.
Guys SE Made Blue Content .. no matter Who Scream it's a Job is totally Wrong. SE wanted you to focus on Getting Spells what should be fun to do as Blue Mage and guess what that is it everything else is a Big Fat NOPE. Focus on Getting Spells forget about everything else. group and play with Blue Mages .. forget Dark Knight, Paladin, Warrior, White Mage, Red Mage, Black Mage, Summoner, Scholar, Dragoon, Ninja, Bard, Astro, Sam, and all other Jobs SE Does not want you to Group with them.
Yoshinda: I DO NOT WANT BLUE MAGES IN MY GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Players: WE WANT BLUE MAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yoshinda: OK>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Yoshinda: WHAT NOW YOUR NOT HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now take a Wild guess who won this Fight. If you say Yoshinda you win A Million Dollars.
The older content of the main quest isn't being kept relevant - Blue Mage is being restricted from it. The way Blue Mage plays in battle looks good and I applaud them for that, but that alone does not justify locking me out of the main story of the game. If we continue to follow this logic, why isn't Summoner or Red mage restricted? They don't exactly fit in with the crowd either. I could argue Red Mage's chainspell mechanic makes it too overpowered, or that Summoner's egi's give it too much versatility. Would you be ok if they restricted those jobs as well and reduced to a minigame/side content?
sure. It was a JP interview http://blog.livedoor.jp/umadori0726/.../54645648.html and here's the translation https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...shida_summary/@SoleilAlphi if you have the links to these interviews could you please post them? and here's the specific part about BLU
so the next cap for 5.0 is 60. Anything after that is wishful thinkingThe schedule for BLU's level cap increase: The next timing will probably be the patch AFTER 5.0 (implying 5.05 or 5.1). It might be difficult to expect the level cap to reach level 80 during 5.0.
Look at what I said Yoshinda said (I Do not want Blue Mage in my game). SE is doing as little as possible to please Blue mages players and if Blue Mage dies they would be happy. The older content of the main quest isn't being kept relevant - Blue Mage is being restricted from it. Thank you for sharing the interview and translation. After reading it I must say I'm disappointed that they've missed the mark on Blue Mage. Now I know that I will never be able to fully enjoy it as I wanted it to, unless there is enough backlash about it's current state. This simply is not a good system for this or any future "limited job." What could have been a great class will be a shell of itself, always levels behind everyone else, and will forever be behind/banned from progressing the main story outside of Inn cutscenes. Let's just hope they don't do this to Dancer, Geomancer, or any other jobs people are dreaming about for 5.0, and that they work with the feedback we are giving them about Blue Mage.
Unplayable no blue dyes with the job.
I mean, at implementation the only story stuff that would have been accessible to BLU would have been content available from 2.1 through maybe bits of early Heavensward, level-wise. You can't unlock it until you complete the 2.0 story anyway. I'm not sure why that's so surprising? If you're concerned about how this affects the job in the future, once the level cap eventually increases, well it remains to be seen how they will handle it then. After all, as much as the devs may try to imply it sometimes, nothing's set in stone. Heck, BLU being playable in the first place is an example of that. For now, it is what it is, but I still don't plan on solidifying an opinion until we can actually play the job and we have a chance to actively see how things work. After which, I'm sure I'll have feedback of my own on how BLU should, imo, be tweaked in the future.
