    I mean, at implementation the only story stuff that would have been accessible to BLU would have been content available from 2.1 through maybe bits of early Heavensward, level-wise. You can't unlock it until you complete the 2.0 story anyway. I'm not sure why that's so surprising? If you're concerned about how this affects the job in the future, once the level cap eventually increases, well it remains to be seen how they will handle it then. After all, as much as the devs may try to imply it sometimes, nothing's set in stone. Heck, BLU being playable in the first place is an example of that. For now, it is what it is, but I still don't plan on solidifying an opinion until we can actually play the job and we have a chance to actively see how things work. After which, I'm sure I'll have feedback of my own on how BLU should, imo, be tweaked in the future.

    At no point has SE said that Blue Mage will ever get to do this. It will only get its level cap raised with the standard patches released through an expansion.

    So it's not a mater of want.

    I -cannot- do whatever raid drops with Shadowbringers with Blue Mage. No amount of 'breaking the mold' will replace that for me.

    Anyone else find it even remotely humorous that we have known that you had to defeat the final msq of ARR to get blue mage since it was announced at fan fest and yet we are getting a post of shocked outrage? We have already known it wasnt going to be able to do msq because all the msq it has access to is already done before you unlock it.

    @Kabooa Although raids are not something I do often, I agree with your sentiment. There has to be a way that they can fix this before the eventual release of Shadowbringers so that it can be a full fledged job. If we cannot use certain actions in PVP in other classes, it makes no sense why a similar solution couldn't have been done for Blue Mage.

    @Darkpaw I am mostly talking about New Game + and the rest of 2/3/4.0's story main quests. Getting another job to 50 to play Blue Mage was something I always had knowledge of.

    I’ll pass on the conjecture and choose to wait until the new game + system is actually laid out in more detail. Think there is a bit of overreaction on that because I do not recall reading anywhere that they have outright stated that blu will be excluded from the ng+ feature. We have a blanket statement from the official patch notes of this patch and thats all. The rest is conjecture and speculation. So, have fun.

    New Game+ won't be available until 5.0, so the patch 4.5 notes may or may not be applicable in 5.0. It also only says that BLU cannot be used to progress through MSQ, so maybe they won't consider NG+ as progressing since it's something you would have had to do first on your regular game progression.

    I am just going to enjoy Blue Mage for what it is, side content. I honestly like something different to do than the normal grind so I'm looking forward to actually having a reason to explore old ARR content again.

    I'm in a "wait and see" mode before I judge how it plays and what content there ends up being for it before I judge.

    But all those kicking off about "limited jobs can't do this and they can't do that" well what about those who wanted something different? Who wanted a Blue Mage that was not bound to the limitations of this game's job system? Those who'd get plenty of enjoyment out of this concept? From a personal level I applaud that SE is tried to add content that isn't limited to this game's usual formula, it's just unfortunate that they're not always good at it, hence my current skepticism, but I like the concept and I can see how it could be made fun and how a limited job system could be used to add a different experience to the game. In fact, if they managed to make Blue Mage enjoyable and if it is something I can get invested in then I for one would not want it to be a normal job, unless it's a normal job version of it.

    However, I look at the limited job from a different perspective. This is a potential solution to some of the problems SE have ahead of them. How can SE implement the vast plethera of jobs people want from the variety of Final Fantasy jobs that are out there, keep their identity and keep content balanced? I expect with the number of existing jobs it is getting challenging to balance them all whilst keeping their identity. There is perhaps a reason why this style of MMO doesn't get a massive range of jobs/classes, because balance is not a simple affair, especially when the content needs it to be. There is the option of adding content that doesn't require that kind balance, which it seems they're testing the waters with on Blue Mage. So 1) I hope that it is good and 2) I hope that people end up liking it because if SE end up investing in alternative battle content that strays from how the rest of the game works, ultimately we win in the sense we get more variety.

    But at the moment, we can only speculate its potential to be good or its potential to be bad. I'd not naysay it just yet, even with the restrictions. Whilst it is out next week, I'm going to reserve my full judgment until 5.0 is out, but at least we'll have a reasonably good idea of its direction this patch. I get people might want to do story with it, but SE likes to make some elements of the story have a certain challenge level and if BLU is OP by normal job standards, it'd remove some of that, which could be their logic.
