Yes they have already said that a job can not use skills from a class and a class can not use skills from a job

I was under the impression you can only level classes, not jobs;

From the sound of it, you still get EXP on a Job, it just applies to the class you're currently using (i.e. killing something as a Paladin will get you EXP towards Gladiator.) Your Paladin level is based solely off your Gladiator's level, so you're effectively leveling both regardless if you're killing things on Gladiator or Paladin.
That would make sense, anyway.
If someone wins an argument, they have learned nothing.
FOR DOCKHAND!

Correct. no way joseAnybody (relatively) new holding off on leveling past 30 with certain classes so they can level the jobs instead of having them automatically at 50?
Personally, I joined the game at the beginning of February after a brief fling with the beta due to hearing about the job system being implemented which was what I was waiting for ever since I played beta.
Anyhow, I'm planning on stalling out my MRD and GLD at 30 so I can level both warrior and paladin. If anybody is doing something similar on Besaid/Balmung or whatever server they are on post here!

I'd like to hold off at least two of my classes in order to help my linkshell's newbies to go around and adventure some =)

While it's true that if you level while on a job, the experience goes to the class it derives from - I wouldn't quite call that leveling the job so to speak. Sure your stats will be increasing, but such is expected from the classes anyway.
Even if you're at 50 and you unlock the job via the lv 30 quest, you still have to do the lv 35, 40, 45 and 50 quests to learn all the skills and finally get the AF armor.
So essentially, you're doing the same work whether you hold off at 30, or level to 50 - unless you mean to say you want to level your classes with the jobs equipped - to which I say that unless you're leveling almost full time in full parties then it probably won't be as efficient.
To each his own I suppose.
Haven't done it purposefully but I'm sure my Con is lingering around 30 so I'll be able to level Whitemage.
