making use of All city market wards...

I was thinking while shopping in the wards and finding out that once again Ul'dah is the only city that sells anything

perhaps we can really make it interesting by having the items that are specific to a guild have (0%) tax is sold in the city that the guild resides in.
If sold in any other city make the tax rather high I suggest 15%-25%, making it worth while for the "seller" of the item to use the other cities to get the most gil for his/her item

ex: cooking items -> limsa (0%) grid, or uldah 15%-25% more tax
items such as weapons can use this system as well

it is still possible to buy and sell items where ever you want, but for the best value, the best profit sell the item in the city that houses the Guild

I believe gear would be difficult but seeing that most gear being introduced is very specific to the class it can also be linked to guilds

Because it'll stop all the people who used to go to Limsa or Gridania to buy stuff? Both of them? Don't be ridiculous. Right now everybody sells in Ul'dah, because everybody buys in Ul'dah. Everybody buys in Ul'dah, because everybody sells in Ul'dah. When the three markets are merged, people will sell everywhere, because people can buy everywhere. People will buy everywhere, because people selling everywhere are available. It won't stop Ul'dah from being a hub, but it will *lessen* the centralizing tendencies, not worsen them. Retainers in particular will spread out because it triples the available ward space (quadruples when we get Ishgard). Crystalier's Row in Ul'dah full? No reason not to take the retainer to Crystalier's Den in Gridania.

    This is the expected outcome.

Then to buy from that person's retainer, won't they have to fly to Gridania, if they want to avoid the tax from buying off the item search menu? Honestly I don't think a linked MW system will show much improvement. People need a central hub for LFG shouts.

But if the tax is equal to 5000 gil (at least I think that's the cap for buying from menu), then it'll be the same as the airship cost. T'wil not be worth it unless you were buying several items from distant lands.

In which case there's no reason to leave Ul'dah with a linked MW system.

I know that I almost never go to the ward to buy directly from the retainer, I'm not sure if that normal or not though.

I welcome the changes to making the market one massive place, I would much prefer it to be completely centralised with no tax for buying from the search window though.

I dunno why they can't just give us a standard WoW style AH.

It's stuff like the marketwards that will put players off because its not intuitive and easy to use.

I think whatever city has the latest dungeon will probably get a bit populated (anima conservation reasons).

After farming, one could return to a closer city (i.e. boar hides from Treespeak back to Gridania or cobalt ore back to La Noscea) and put their items up.

And the lower level players can start in any city with a healthy selection of market action.
