I'm not sure what gainful noteriety you were trying to garner by posting this, but the one thing I will say is that you sure screwed yourself out of a whole lot of time and money. For what it's now worth, a 50% moon isn't good for much at all.

that depends per person. i'm not sure if it's your info on character creation or not, but some people have great luck on the last half waning moon all the way til new moon and some are the opposite on waxing til full. i always get great results waxing til full myself.

As I said, I'm not positive, but I think it's has much more to do with the situation. I'll give two contradicting first-hand examples:
Third Order Patriarch Zu Ga - Of the many runs I've made, the worst drop rates on keys were taken during a 50% waning moon. We got a mere 3 keys in 3.5 hours. Conversely, we farmed 6 keys in one hour during a 25% waning crescent. At the very point that the moon turned, the keys just stopped. 0/10.
Aldgoats - Every day, for about 30min., I farm these guys and have found that horns and hides (+HQ) drop increases during a 50% waning/waxing moon. Of course, the drop rate is poorer during new/full moons.
So call it superstition or dumb luck, but whatever the case, there seems to be a definite correlation between the moon and many aspects of the game.

yes, that does seem to be the case in that the moon effects the game in many aspects. it could also be that people are looking for a reason why things stop working the way we feel it should. it may be that we just ran into a streak of bad luck.As I said, I'm not positive, but I think it's has much more to do with the situation. i'm just speaking for myself, but i've been crafting for over a year. i grinded all my crafts to 50 and didn't use the massive sp boosts from leves and free sp off ifrit. i noticed a drastic difference between the hq rates for myself during half to full. i have a friend that is the opposite and you could tell a major difference in theirs half to new. those differences didn't seem to matter if working on magic craftsmanship synths or regular craftsmanship. it's strange that i have better luck farming mats during the half to full as well.
that's why i say it could be either it's based per person's choices during character creation or it may just be us looking for something that isn't there and it's just a random case of luck. i can't say which is correct, but it's answers i would love to get.

Which now makes me wonder if our character's 'birth day' moon/sign play into it somehow. I have no idea, it just was a thought I had reading the last couple posts. (This could explain why people get so very different, yet self-consistant results)yes, that does seem to be the case in that the moon effects the game in many aspects. it could also be that people are looking for a reason why things stop working the way we feel it should. it may be that we just ran into a streak of bad luck.

yeah we have been discussing that for over a year now. the problem is it could be someone just happened to hit a lucky streak and they attributed it to the moon or there could be more to it. we just don't know and it's all guess work.
it's a running joke in my ls that if we don't get a drop or something random(like game crash) happens just to yell "it was the wrong moon phase" in voice chat.

Yanno, I was kind of hoping for just this thing to literally impact character strengths. Take each of the Guardians for example; The Destroyer (Attack Bonus), The Lover (Charisma Bonus), The Wanderer (Anima Bonus), and so on. Good eye, Kinsey.

They give you a success % chance. If you simply test it you will see, moon phase, birth sign, guardian, etc etc DO NOT effect meld chance. If you think it does its pure superstition/luck.
There are only 2 things that chance that %. HQ item can increase chance by up to 5%, and low value. The same 2 materia will ALWAYS give the same % chance. 2 tier 1 with the lowest value on any gear 41+ will always give 42.5% if the gear is +1 you get 47.5%
I see you were doing it at half moon, and I have heard from others half moon is the worst time to craft...
I have noticed I get blow ups A LOT at half moon so I try to avoid crafting around that time.
20 breaks is crazy man....
I'm just a bun boy, doing bun boy things.
