    My issues with PvP

These are the problems I see with PvP in FFXIV

    Reasons why PvP is terrible.

    1. PvP skills and spells are pruned, meaning in PvP you have about 7-10 skills to actually use, compared to 20+ in PvE. And most of the important skills in PvE aren’t available in PvP. Like utility spells, defensives, slows and etc. No real counterplay for some classes. An example would be Samurai, it’s finishing ability, which does the most damage has a cast time however the SAM kit in PvP has no stun or heavy(slow), meaning if someone wanted to run away and kite, the SAM would not be able to get his hardest hitting ability off.
    2. No auto attacks in PvP, this being removed makes the game play seem more slower than it’s PvE counterpart.
    3. 3 second server ticked, meaning it takes 3 seconds for the server to register packets being sent from client, thus making heals delayed or damage not register on time.
    4. Spells and skills do not require the players to face the target. This is probably my biggest issue with PvP in FFXIV, it removes skillful gameplay and player positioning and awareness. So a range player can easily run forward while kiting and hitting a player that’s chasing em without ever having to turn the camera and stop to deal damage. Also if a melee player is attacking a caster from the back or side, the caster does not need to face the attacker to cast a spell(the game automatically turns for you). It just makes the game feel awkward, so you are better off standing still and playing as if you were rooted, rather strafing around.

    5. Gear doesn’t matter in PvP makes it extremely bland, you already have a 2.5 sec GCD, however with gear being normalized, you can’t stack skill speed to lower it, thus making the certain job feel sluggish and not fluid.

I agree PvP isn't perfect, and I definitely agree that we need more skills so that better players can make use of their experience.

But, I actually find PvP to feel a lot faster. As bard you have burst every 15 seconds, as a BLM you're constantly throwing out F4's and its instant to swap to Ice for mana, for MCH you don't have to wait for procs, etc etc. When I go back to PvE i feel like the game is TOO slow.

Having to face targets in the already fast(er) paced PvP environment does not sound like fun. I'm curious how you think this can help? I'm all for it if it makes sense, but I just don't see it. I remember it used to be that you had to face targets to get spells off so people just had a facetarget macro that would spam. If you think standing still is a better way than to move around then I can only imagine that you are inexperienced. If you just stand still in a Feast match you will be deleted.

I used to like gear making a difference, but I see why it was taken away. Imagine if you were losing to someone simply because they outgear you, not because they're better than you. That seems pretty frustrating to me.

I'm all for seeing others perspectives though to see if maybe I'm misunderstanding something, but I don't really see how these changes would make Feast better.

    Agree with point 1.
The skills in PvP and PvE should be the same IMO. Now they are 2 completely different games. Stormblood made me lose all interest in PvE 'cause of it and my PvP interest have taken a serious hit 'cause of how simplistic it is.

    2. I'm actually against autoattacks in game, but don't mind them. Autoattacks at its current state seems more like dots to me.

    3. Very annoying, especially combined with lag.

    4. I Agree with the premise; it actually used to be more like this. However, playing as melee with lag was extremely frustrating. I remember locking on targets running towards them, and even if I apparently was hugging their asses I couldn't land a hit 'cause the lag rendered me too far away and/or not facing them. Unless the target stood perfectly still it wouldn't work at its worst and if they walked around in a random pattern it was impossible at certain times. This made me develop an instinct to automatically lock on targets, and to this day it's still in muscle memory and kicks in when it shouldn't lol.
As long as the lag is at this level they shouldn't change it 'cause it would make the battlefield too unfair for peeps with lag problems.

This pic may not be the best example, but you can see difference between activation-time on sprint and fetter ward. I'm pretty sure fetter ward couldn't activate 'cause I was already bound to be bound lol.

    5. No, gear stats should not matter in PvP, and was one the good things Strormblood did to PvP. I understand the loss of customization, and there is an argument to be had there for sure, but as it stands it would be too unfair to noobs.

    1) Netcode
    2) Bahamut
    3) No cc and my dots cost 33% of mana, BRDs dont even have a TP cost and out of 251k damage, probably 80k of it is effective dps.
    4) This game in general actually lol.

Thing about casters just isn't true, especially BLMs are basically turrets. I haven't turn off auto face enemy in a long time since level 10 ACN newbie. I remember having a hard time before I knew about it. #4 and #1 are just netcode, the client will try to skip frames and animations in order to quickly update everyone's state soon as possible. It's not like it's a turn-based game.

At this state of where PvP is in, I’ll be happy if we got 3.0 pvp system back. Making PvP into its own mini game in 4.0 doesn’t feel right.

this game's pvp won't ever be fixed because it's too much work and they don't care. there's little or no room for skilled play, just abusing the game's terrible netcode. the "best" players in pvp are like 1300 rated WoW players using a controller. heck, they pruned most jobs to like 8 buttons tops and still can't even figure out decent balance across the shallow game modes.

Lol 1300 players, I can totally agree with you. I think I’m going to be taking a break from PvP, unless they actually do an overhaul.
