    Late To the PVP Game

I'd really like to try my hand at obtaining some of the glamours and music scrolls you can get through the Wolf Marks, but as the title implies I've never really done any PVP in this game before. I'm not really sure what to expect and I'm a bit nervous to go up against actual people. I feel like I know my main DPS jobs fairly well, but then I'm not too sure how that'll translate with PVP having different ability setups for each job. Anyone have any pointers for a newbie who doesn't want to make a complete fool out of himself? I'm not really interested in ranks or whatever.

well reading your skills tooltips and trying your rotation on a mannequin would already put you above 90% of the fl playerbase

Don't be afraid to look like a fool. Hit that queue and enjoy the content! ^_^

Tip: Learn NOT to LoS (lose line-of-sight) or be out of range of your healers.

Get a feel for the PvP rotations for each job at the Wolves' Den Pier where they have striking dummies to practice on.

Check the lodestone for rules and mechanics for each mode/map.

    Good luck.

I myself only dabbled in PvP in the past. I have been hearing that there are griefing and boosting issues which is pushing me away from PvP a little. What kind of griefing are players doing and what are good counter measures for dealing with griefers and boosters? Also what can help with the long queue times to make the wait more bearable?

Thanks for the input everyone! Tried my hand with Shatter on Frontline today, and I think I'm getting used to things. Took me a while to figure out how to turnoff the freelancer settings though lol. Want to try Rival Wings, especially since the new map is dropping soon, but as I understand it Astragolos is more or less dead atm.

There's a discord server that organizes events every weekend.

NA only play in Saturdays. EU plays on Saturdays and Sundays.

Yes, there's a Rival Wings Discord called "Revival Wings". You can find an invite link on the PvPaissa website. Simply Google PvPaissa, then click on Discord tab, and you should be able to find the link to Revival Wings there.

As Xevia mentioned earlier, the NA community (Aether/Primal DC) queues Rival Wings every Saturday around 8PM ET and 5PM PT. ^_^

Also, if you want to improve your PvP game, I highly recommend joining the Wolf Pups Den Discord. You should be able to find the invite link in PvPaissa as well.

Good luck and queue up! :3

As said above, look for the discord communities. All in all pvp is mechanically simple - learning to read situations and how to handle them is what takes time.

In the duty finder, use Daily Challenge: Frontline to que, even after you get the daily reward. The way it works now is that there will be just one of the match types per day, so each day you'll have a good chance to get familiar with one of the pvp game modes. It'll be tough to get a Rival Wings match when Revival Wings team isn't scheduling an event, but when the new map drops there will probably be a reward with it and so if you like the mode then enjoy it while you can as ques that pop should be available most nights during prime time for like a month or so...I mean that's how these things have tended to work.

Mostly I would recommend that when you're new, stick with the main group of your teammates. Especially in the smaller matches (three teams of 8), roaming is tempting because you can make a big difference but you can also cost your team a lot of firepower by not being there with the group, so it's one of the trickier calls to make early on whether to stick with the group or go for an objective etc. Early on you can make solid contributions to winning just by staying with the main group.
