quests that require /say commands

while levelling from 60 towards 70 ive come across a bit of a frustrating problem. ive encountered two quests so far where you need to input a /say command into the console and its supposed to trigger the quest. however nothing in happening in either case.
is this a common thing?
am I missing something obvious here?

the quests are: treasure cove and girl with the pearl ring.

Make shure you type the exact same message as is asked to say, capitals and all. Also not 100% shure but maybe you cant have any target selected or you must have the target selected. Try both

I highlight with mouse then copy/paste for those quests. I highlight excess text on either side, so what I say normally ends up looking like gibberish.

For the repeatable quests of the beast tribes you can just make a macro with /say "xyz" an add it to your hotbar, makes it a bit less annoying.

Also, for all of you boring boring people who type only exactly what it asks for... you can add extra text on either side, so long as it contains the text it's asking for.

I quite enjoy the "His Whiskers" quest, because I say...

Do His Whiskers hang low? Do they wobble to and fro? Can you tie them in a knot? Can you tie them in a bow?

I believe that is the intent behind a lot of those quests. That is why there usually isn't any punctuation or capital letters (with the exception of proper nouns) in the required phrases.

For some quests you can do that. For some you have to type only exactly what it asks for.

If the quests asks for "any phrase containing..." then you can add a lot of stuff around the required part. Other cases you can't add anything.
