In darkness, in cold, in the midst of winter where nothing walks the world but death and fear let the brave rejoice: I call the light.
Out of darkness, light. Ouf of silence, song. Ouf of the sun´s death, the birth of each year. Out of cold, fire. Out of death, life. Out of fear, courage to see the day. (Elizabeth Moon - The Deed of Paksenarrion)
I'll have to wait and see if they do another big QA. I'll try to be as annoying as possible to get the question answered by Yoshi P

I'd go for it just to be able to gpose with all of my alts together.
Unlikely, Its likely they will do retainers first before an actual alt.
If they did make it possible to make your alts into trusts, it'd better not be the ONLY way. A lot of players don't have alts because, frankly, there's no need for them. EVERYTHING can be done on one character, unless you're a truly hardcore raider who feels they MUST outfit multiple jobs with full sets of weekly lockout equipment.
Personally, I have three alts, all under level 10, and have no real desire to play any of them. Except maybe to run through the Ul'dah and Limsa Lominsa starter quests. Someday. When I get around to it.
The primary point of the trust system is to have NPCs as your party members - so I greatly doubt they'd make alts the only option, if they do it at all.If they did make it possible to make your alts into trusts, it'd better not be the ONLY way. I would love it if the Trust System extended to alts. The majority of my alts in-story are sisters so that's already motivation enough for me personally.
Playing the Lv60 SCH quest on my alt has reminded me of the other thing the trust system could be massively helpful for: having the designated story NPCs actually counted as party members. The game just gave me all these fancy skills for AoEing and spreading shields to party members, then puts me in a duty where I can't use any of those skills on the people I need to be healing, because we're not in a party!
Isn't this the system that killed FFXI years ago?
