And neither did the OP punish the guy who had his girlfriend take over his character for a while. Reporting someone isn't a punishment. It's just letting SE know about it so that they can be the ones to decide whether it's an issue or not.

This was technically account sharing, but probably not the type that SE was talking about when they put it in the ToS. But it's their rule, so they're the best people to decide whether it still counts as an infraction or not. There's nothing wrong with reporting it to them so that they can do so. If they don't think it warrants any action, then there won't be any action taken.

That's not what Hyo meant by punishing the op as someone else said anyone who thought the op's actions and asking for xp to be taken away was a bit too far regardless if what that other player did was or wasn't against the ToS as punishing the OP.

Uh, I never said anything about OP "punishing" anyone else either. But I did say that they completely overreacted, and made a mountain out of a molehill. Go back and reread my post.

The GMs have enough on their plate with legitimate harassment and bot activity to deal with already.

If your concerns don’t check any of the above, block them and move on. Not only are you wasting the GMs time but putting other players at risk with frivolous suits.

There is no such thing as wasting a GM's time when it is literally their job to address player queries, GMs don't deal with bots, you can't get in trouble off reports alone and if something isn't against the ToS, the GMs would clarify.

Yes you can get into trouble from reports alone. If you keep making one false report after another in the end they will take action against you. Seen it happen though it was around 2 years ago. so who knows what their stance is now.

Rules like "no account sharing" are more for SE's protection than for anything else.
It's already set up so the same account can't be actively in use more than once at a time, so it's not like people can have multiple accounts for free.
So really, it's just so that you can't go crying to SE if someone you have shared the account with did things with your stuff.

As far as this particular instance of it... You reported it? Well, sure. Expect nothing of it. Personally, I wish I could have someone to do some couch coop with like that.

Well... it is definitely against the rules, but generally that's dealing with regular sharing of one account between two people, or passing an account on to someone else. I wouldn't assume that just letting his gf hop on to finish running his character through one dungeon while he took care of something else quick would be an issue, and it's certainly not taking up any more time for the other players running the dungeon. Probably something i'd have let slide.

I was in a PUG earlier this evening and we wiped, looks like the healer stopped healing. The guy then came on Party Chat, apologized and said his girlfriend took over while he did something.

I don't care about wiping, my concern is... are people allowed to share a character? I.e. two individuals playing one toon? If not, this guy was cheating. Anyway, I left the duty and reported him. Not sure what else I can do. I feel awful about it, guilty that I was in the part but I had no idea.

Can someone confirm of this is or is not allowed and is there any other action I can take (having the XP removed or whatever?).

If they live together I believe it's okay in terms of service. Because I live with my 70 year old mother and when she has to make an emergency afk (as elderly tend to do) she'll have me take over in a dungeon for her.

Here's how I see it:

If player in question knew his GF couldn't fill in to cover at least basic healing requirements then he should have just said, "brb, bathroom."

Even if against ToS, how do you prove someone else was controlling a character?

It's a DF PUG, and there is a thread dedicated for bad/good experiences which is highly active and responsive towards new posts. There is no need to make a brand new thread because you had a shitty experience in DF, and you'll get better sympathy there rather than here.

Not sure what is going on with the recent trend of bad healers, but from the threads I am reading and my own experience in DF, healers are also not getting any support from their PT members. Both DPS and tanks are not using any abilities to take pressure of the healer and it is seriously pissing me off. The more jobs I level, the more I am enlightened to which DPS and tank players are not using ogcds to help out their healers in PUGs.

I'll put blame on DPS/Tanks long before healers in wipe scenarios if no one is doing jack to help them out. Enmity shed/transfer, self heals, and damage mitigation are available, free, and help out your healers tremendously. Healers can put out considerable DPS if allowed, and they are only allowed if players don't make them use up their gcds keeping your ass alive.

This is ridiculous. The ToS I'd to guard against sharing account info, login details etc. As is the practice for things like buying clears, and as already stated, to prohibit people from saying "I didnt break the rules my friend did."

This is in no way comparable to handing the controller over to someone else in the same room as you.
Gaming will be in a very sorry state if it ever gets to that.
