Some questions about transferring to a different server

Hello everybody, as Harry Carrey would say.

I've found "rules" regarding transferring on a few sites but they've all been a few years old. I have a few questions regarding transferring a character.

1) Do all mog-station bought items (clothes, emotes, etc) transfer (since it was sent to character x on server y)
2) Is there still a one million gil cap? An older post mentioned anything greater than 1 million just got lost.
3) Retainers go with you also, correct?

Also any snags you've run into?

Pretty sure it's yes to all three, but not 100%

However if you wait a couple months you'll be able to transfer for free and keep all your gil (no cap)

1) Mog station items are tied to the character (or all characters). If you've left them in your mog mail, that's where they'll be pre and post transfer.

2) It depends. If you're moving from a Congest server or to a Preferred server, the limits are changed. Otherwise, there are still caps. Up to date details should be on the transfer service section.

3) Yes, but to get them back on the markets, you'll need to manually pull them up again. I'd suggest taking items off for sale before you do your last logout before transferring. The same goes for leaving your Free Company and relinquishing any property, if applicable, but there are exceptions.

Oh thank you thank you for the link - a nice big fat current one. Gil is no problem - don't have that much. The friends' list surprised me - you can have cross-world friends? Keep in touch so to speak?
It sounds like the "all items" covers mogstation-purchased things. I deleted the mail they came in, of course.

All items, including gear and minions
Retainers and all items in their possession
Moogle letters
Gil (10 million gil per character, 5 million gil per retainer)

You can have cross-world friends as long as you're in the same datacenter! (Otherwise, you get a nice "cannot retrieve" or "deleted" placeholder instead). However, with the upcoming World visit feature, you can hop to any world on your datacenter freely in-game, so unless you're moving worlds for a Free Company or for Linkshells, I'd hold off. Or if you're moving servers regarding the upcoming Datacenter Redistribution, I'd still also say hold off because they'll almost assuredly make transfers free during that time because a lot of people are gonna want to reshuffle. (which...has plenty of dedicated threads with people's thoughts on the matter.)

Item-wise, once it's assigned to your character, it's part of your character's data. Regular mog mail messages are all tied to your character and even if someone renames or server hops, they aren't affected.
