In regard to an exp cap~ I agree that there should be a certain point at which:
Challenging Mob = Cap @ 1200 (just an example number)
Chain #5 = Cap @1200 (example number)
Chain #5 on a challenging mob = Cap @1500

This means that you have something to strive for with both things. If you want to take the time to take out a tougher monster, feel free to because you get big bucks out of it. As an alternative you can kill these lower monsters. They're faster and lower exp, but if you kill them quickly enough you can yield the same reward. I believe this would influence players to feel encouraged to try both as well as opening up more options for camps.

I remember in FFXI (Pre-Abyssea) whenever puk/bird/imp parties were all taken on a very busy night, there was always a very last resort..Sky. Fighting Golems. Now, this was never a great solution, simply because of the fact that it was so far away from Whitegate and a pain in the arse to get to, but it was still a viable option if you absolutely had to.
