Group based world PVP idea!

Open World PVP will never happen in a Final Fantasy, SE has stated that multiple times. The Japanese playerbase is heavily against it as they feel it goes against the Final Fantasy Aesthetic which is a group of friends fighting together to save the world, Not kill each other.

Would seeing two players fighting it out bother you if you were 100% safe? This is just like being a spectator, but the combatants have the entire world to roam. This contest system(minus the PVP) worked pretty well in MHF, as it gave players something to do for the month, outside of the normal grind.
This set up is essentially a 3-week, non-stop, Ballista match.

balissta was NOT ABOUT KILLING EACH OTHER. you KO a player to open up the opposing sides rook and toss in a perta for points. its pretty much a weird rugby game. players dug up petra while avoiding being k'oed. While fighting other players. ffxi pvp was military training drills (well games based off military training drills) Only pvp that was more fighting/ dueling was brennar which no one did.
