New to FFXIV playing a Ninja

Hey all! First post for me, yeah!

Anywho, as title suggests this is my first FFXIV toon and i just hit 30 last night and became a Ninja. What links/sites can people recommend I use to get my DPS in order? I'm seeing some Youtube vids of "openers" for some battles but not sure if relevant yet as I have a bit to go to get all 3 mudra. Plus without much explanation it's somewhat confusing.

Where should I be working in the mudra (Ten) right now? How should I change my style of fighting from SpinEdge/Gust/A Edge while working in mug and jug during the cool downs? Little birdy said don't use "Assassinate" as the animation locks down your ability to do more damage while rolling? Any suggestions are welcome as I'm sure there is more to this than mashing buttons. Thanks to all in advance for any help you can offer another newcomer!

Generally, the only openers you'll see are only useful at level cap. Coming up with optimal rotations at various levels prior to that aren't worth the effort.

I would think that at 30, no job needs a guide. You don't have that many skills to deal with. The instructions for NIN are going to be the same as any other DPS at that level. Keep your GCD rolling (Spin, Gust, etc.), and intersperse the oGCD skills in between those. You should definitely be using Assassinate unless you're worried about being caught in an upcoming enemy attack, since it will prevent you from moving for a short bit.

Priority 1: If your GCD (global cooldown) is ready, then use a GCD skill (Spin, Gust, etc.).
Priority 2: Use an oGCD skill or two while your GCD is on cooldown (Mug, Fuma, etc.)
That's pretty much all there is to it.

At 38, you'll get an action with a DoT/debuff (Shadow Fang) that you'll want to try to upkeep (try not to overwrite it unless it's about to run out).
At 40, you'll have access to Katon (good for attacking 2+ targets). Raiton could be good in theory, but in practice it may take too long to get out to be worth using over Fuma.
At 42, you'll get an AOE attack that you should use if you're dealing with 3+ enemies (you'll want to stop using it before you completely run out of TP).
At 45, you'll have access to Huton, which you'll want to upkeep (haste buff). You'll also want to use Suiton (+Trick Attack) and Doton (AOE damage) appropriately as well.
Blah blah more complexity added as you level up.

I'm glad you care enough to seek improvement, but you're looking into optimization waaaaaaaaaaaay too early. When you get a new action, it should be pretty self explanatory what to do with it. Seek out optimization as you approach 70. Nobody's going to care if you're playing somewhat sub-optimally while you level up unless you're doing REALLY badly. Generally speaking, I find that people who are smart enough to ask for help are also those who are smart enough to figure out the basics on their own just by reading the tooltips. Ninja can be a little overwhelming once you unlock all the Mudras, but you're not even there yet.

When you get your second mudra, consider leaving a space between it and the first, as the third mudra fits conceptually between them. If playing on straight hotbars and you have the space to do it, consider putting a Ninjutsu button at the low end also: Ninjutsu Chi(Earth) Jin(Man) Ten(Heaven) Ninjutsu

If playing on cross hotbars, put Ten at the top; Chi at the bottom; and Jin and Ninjutsu to the sides.

These arrangements make it easy to visualize the flow of energy. For example, the lightning jutsu is energy jumping from Heaven down to Earth (Ten-Chi), and the wind jutsu is energy moving upward from the bottom to the top (Chi-Jin-Ten).
