    Disconnects over past few weeks

    Hello

Seem to be having issues over the last two weeks where my character will disconnect for no reason in any area house/town/dungeon doing something or doing nothing without any error messages

The game will dump straight back to the character select screen and I will not be able to log back in for a while due to being "incorrectly logged out"

Sometimes I will get the ( ~ ) symbol next to my name showing I'm about to DC and sometimes not

Everything is updated Graphics card/Antivirus/Windows etc no recent changes made to any settings, the computer is only used for FF14 and has next to no other programs installed/running

    Ethernet connection NOT WiFi

    BT Connection:
    24.5 Mbps download
    8.77 Mbps upload
    Latency: 12 ms
    Server: London

Contacted BT provider: No issues at their end

I'm not the most technical but will try answer any questions - any help is greatly appreciated

    Cheers

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

When did this first start happening? Do you recall anything changing with your PC or connection that coincides with this?

It looks like you are losing connection in a few places along your trace route, particularly at hops 3 and 14. This is usually caused by congestion along your route, which can be cause by an assortment of things. I'd suggest trying some of the following in order to stabilize your home network:

    - Reset your router by turning it off for a few minutes, then back on
    - Make sure your anti-virus/firewall has the appropriate exceptions for Final Fantasy XIV (you can temporarily disable them while you try to connect as well).
    - Try a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC. This will make sure that no background processes are interfering with the game.

These won't fix any issues that are caused by congestion, but it may alleviate any that stem from your home network.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!
