For the regular 8 man and the 24 man raids, I think a system where you get a bonus to your roll based on how many times you've done it that week would work.

But for a performance based roll, I don't think a bonus for doing good would work, but rather a penalty for doing bad. I don't know how it would work for tanks and healers, but DPS could have a baseline that's fairly easy to beat as long as you dodge AoEs and don't get yourself killed constantly.

Maybe for healers, penalizing them for party members dying to arenawide AoEs (if the game could tell the difference between them and any other attack).

Of course first timers reasonably could be exempt from it.

Sort of like a bad luck protection. Something this game sorely needs.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
