New Playable Race Idea: Ronso

I know YoshiP said they most likely won't add any other playable races to the game after Viera, and it's not like I'm not satisfied with what we have, but I'd prefer if this door wasn't completely closed after the Viera arrive.

While I'm happy about all the races we have, I would've liked to see less human-like races (like humans with animal ears or horns and tails). I would've loved to see Burmecians/Cleyrans from FFIX being added, but realistically that would be a lot of trouble because they're digitigrade and have a somewhat long snout (which would conflict with a lot of shoes and helmets). So I understand why SE doesn't feel like adding more races, especially less human-like races.

So I thought about the Ronso from FFX.

They don't have human faces and are just a little bit digitigrade (enough that, in my opinion, shoes would probably look normal on them). They have tails, but those are not a problem. As for their faces, I think they're "flat" enough that masks, glasses and helmets wouldn't look weird on them.

The only thing that could be an issue is probably the horn (which only males have, I think), but we've had horns before. The difference is that Au ra horns protrude horizontally while a Ronso's would be more vertical. Still, it should be only as much trouble as Viera ears, if not less.

What do you think? Do you think there could be a race that would feel different without causing a lot of issues related to gear? Do you think we might still see new playable races in the future?

If we were to keep in lore of the Ronso from 10, they would need to come from a mountain wilderness of colder climate akin to Mt Gagazet.

I won't claim that I know the world of 14 especially well but I do know Coerthas was not originally a winter wonderland. I think it has been said somewhere that the Empire home of operations is in a region that could potentially fit that environment for the Ronso. So I suppose that potentially they could be a beast tribe in that region.

I'm hoping the other clan of Viera is something like this, Ronso the orcs of elves sort of thing lol.

I think Ronsos are gross and I'd rather have the ability to finally play as a beastman like a goblin or Qiqirn. We've got enough regular humanoid PCs- I want something to break the mold.

Oh, I'd love to play as beastmen too, but if we had those they'd probably have to receive gear specific to them (and different from one another; an Ixal helmet would probably be very different from a Kobold helmet). The Ronso, I think, is the FF race that looks more beastman-like without causing too much conflict with other gear.

That leaker guy who predicted BLU and Viera said Ronso were supposed to be part of 5.0 along with Viera if I remember correctly. If that still holds true(since literally everything he said has come to pass thus far) i'm wondering if its going to be something like Ronso are males only and Viera are only female.

A gender locked playable race would be very poorly received.
