90002 Error Post Character Selection

Hello~

I switched from PS4 to PC ~2 weeks ago and have been unable to play the game due to being disconnected. After character selection I get “Connection with server was lost [90002]” while on the loading screen. On occasion, my character will load in game for ~10–15s before getting a 90001 or 90002 error. My PC is on a wireless connection, but my PS4 is also connected to the same router which I can play on without any issues.

I have tried logging in as different characters; created a character on a non–U.S. World/Server (Elemental/Couerl) to see if it was just my connection to Primal/Hyperion, and disabled the Private Firewall (Windows). I also tried the IE settings from this thread: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...02-disconnects

I don’t know what else to check for and hope someone can help out.

Have you tried using an Ethernet cable? A wired connection should give a more stable connection. Have you tried port forwarding? If not, please provide the following:


- Check to see if the following port ranges are opened on your router. You can contact your ISP and request they open them for you:

-Try disabling background applications and do a clean boot by opening the task manager and selecting the “Start up” tab. Disable everything and then restart the PC.

Thanks for responding, Dynratygus.

Connecting via Ethernet cable is, unfortunately, not an option for me. My PS4 is on the same wireless connection and is perfectly stable when playing—not sure if that debunks wired vs wireless stability, though. Opening the ports, disabling startup apps, and rebooting didn’t seem to do anything.

I accidentally discovered when playing at default resolution I’m able to stay connected, however I’m only standing idle or walking in town and still see frequent drops in Sending/Receiving to 0 — sometimes simultaneously. Anytime I make the game resolution fullscreen (either bordered or borderless window mode) I get disconnected almost immediately.

Good morning Eblen,

Thank you for the information! So based on the trace rout it doesn't seem like any packets are lost. You also mention changing the screen resolution? Has this affected the connection before? Also could you try disabling full screen? Please use the following instructions:

- Right click the game launcher
- Click " Properties" and then click " Compatible"
- Check " Disable full screen"

Are you referring to "Disable fullscreen optimization"? If so, I checked that box for both launcher and ffxivdx11.exe, but the disconnects still happened.

I played around with the resolution settings some more and think that it's somehow related to the resolution the game is booted at. When I boot using the default game resolution (1280x720) everything seems to work fine. When I boot the game at 3840x1600, I get the 9000x errors. What could be causing the game to throw a 9000x error based on the games booted resolution?

Ok, so I can confirm that my disconnects are happening from graphic/resolution settings. I am able to play with the following resolution + graphic setting combinations:

• 1280x720 at Maximum
• 1920x1080 at High (laptop)
• 2560x1080 at High (laptop) Edit: this doesn't work afterall, 90k error at Rank S hunt mob

I get disconnected within 10 seconds of changing the graphic settings higher than what’s listed per resolution, for example 1920x1080 at Maximum settings will give me a 9000x error.

Any idea why I’m unable to play at higher resolution/settings given my PC specs are capable of playing at 3840x1600 with max settings?

I apologize for the delay in my response. Disconnects can be caused by a variety of different problems. Performance for FFXIV on your system may drop at higher settings due to network issue or if drivers are not up to date. It could be happening for a number of different reasons. As the game constantly has new content and various things added, it will use new and more recent drivers. Due to that, drivers on computers will need to be kept updated a well.

Also does this issue with the disconnect happen on DirectX 11 or 9?

Hi Dynratygus, Drivers (both wireless and graphic) are up to date. This is happening with DirectX 11.
