You know why ? Because if it was more difficult, people would complain that they would have to learn how to play properly.

So, yeah, I blame the playerbase for being crybabies who can't put effort into the game. And it's no more true than in Eureka, where people complain leveling up taking ages but keep AFKing in the train, when actually killing proper targets would make them reach level cap really fast.
Lol what is this? It's pretty rare I see people refute themselves so volunatarily.

Alexandre: People AFK Eureka because it sucks.
You: People afk other content too so clearly it is also bad!

Like come on here. I have seen maybe 20 afker's total outside of Eureka in the 5 years of playing this game (not counting the obvious bots you see out in the world) whereas the number of people who AFK in Eureka is somewhere in the neighborhood of half every single instance. If the content was engaging, people would do it. That they opt to afk it instead means that it is not, and it is that simple. It has nothing to do with laziness.

Laziness doesn't even make sense to begin with. The lazy route is not doing Eureka because the tomestone weapon is going to be better the majority of the time and take about 1/20th the effort. Crybabies is a hilarious term for feeling like people aren't putting in enough work for your arbitrary standards of who gets to own a bad weapon that glows though. Are you this salty about the crafted primal weapons too?

If eureka allows players the leisure of watching youtube/netflix while being "completable", it means eureka is just terrible, that simple. Good designed content will captivate, capture and REQUIRE the full attention of its players. But again, most of you people don't even see eureka for what it is. Instanced map, full of reused assets and mechanics, with FATEs, and a terribly long, unnecessarily convoluted and artificially inflated grind to generate a sense of "progression", that is meaningless to top it, cause most of it rewards will be displaced in value (and value alone, since this game only knows one trick, to rise numbers) by NPCs rewards during mainquests of the next expansion.

I remember good ol mmorpg grinds, months grinding for a reward, but i also know, they lasted relevant a lot, and some even returned years later to be part of new mechanics, new stat weights, new builds and new interesting ways to play a class players didn't thought about before. That was the goal of the grind, a good lasting and interesting reward. Eureka gives you, meaningless numbers that are just higher than before. Good game design right there. /sarcasm.
I've never said that eureka was good i've stated the opposite more than just once. I've said the playerbase is lazy af and that is what most of the playerbase is, everywhere. Stop spreading nonsense.

Oh and congratulations, you've described what a lot of people do in pretty much everything, watching netflix or youtube because someone else will carry their lazy butts. Most content here is not challenging that it requires any attention and if you've seen and if you've run stuff for a certain amount of times it is far from beeing captive, don't try to fool people.

Also a little hint for you: Everything what you do to progress in your gear is just getting "meaningless numbers that are just higher than before" and even your good old mmo grind was just increasing meaningless numbers that get outclassed at one point. Because that is how mmo's work.

They said that there will be a public dungeon/raid in the end of Eureka a loooong time ago. Not sure why you complained it now. Besides, Eureka itself is content whether or not it is interesting. Gated content behind content? I do not see any problem with that.

By the Twelve, something else tied to Eureka? I regret that I just upped my six month sub, because this insistence on forcing old school MMO grind rather than newer modern MMO ideas on everyone just makes me want to un-sub and find a game that has joined the modern era. Didn't they learn their lesson with 1.0?

At this point, I can go back to EQ and have a more modern experience with new content because they learned how not to be stuck in the past.

If Death Penalty was incurred everytime, even if only a fraction of it when you're raised like it was in XI, those players would never have reached Pyros.
To be fair, if you had that, nobody would have bothered doing half the NM's in any of the Eureka zones and/or the playerbase as a whole would have boycotted in a few minutes after realizing.

I can just imagine doing Tiamat, Hazmat, Pazuzu, Strider with those rules in place. Or even Cyclopsboy: "oops, you were a healer and cast a heal, grats on deleveling again, serves you right".

Only if you checked it yesterday. The mods deleted that entire side conversation. But there are enough examples across the rest of the board.

Again - Hercub, if you're not deliberately trolling, and you want engage with the community, then try not to post when you're in whatever state makes you write posts like that. You've written perfectly normal things before, and now you're increasingly doing these rambling stream-of-consciousness posts instead.

And if you want to make remarks like "we know who you are"... in the same way, the mods know who you are, and they've chosen to delete some of your posts. So keep that in mind if you're going to keep posting in the way you have been lately. I don't know what the exact rules are, but I understand that once you've had a certain number of warnings you are permanently, irreversibly banned from the forum.

My issue with "gating things behind Eureka" isn't about the final dungeon (which presumably continues on with the gameplay format, for those who enjoy it) or even the gear, but having part of the game's story locked behind it.

If it was self-contained, that might be different, but the fate of the Isle of Val was a big deal in post-ARR MSQ. It was a mystery, the Ascians seemed to be involved, and it all sounded like it was going to be important in future.

And instead, the only way to finally get the answer (or at least to see it for yourself within the game) is locked behind this incredibly time-intensive side content.

I can assure you you didn't miss much in the way of story from Eureka... frankly the story has been minimal and rather poor.
that said, you can always watch the cut-scenes on YouTube if you don't like the content.

    Story:

Krile: Cool place, huh? Hey, go collect a crystal for me. Oh btw you can't use mounts here because reasons.

3 levels later: Oh hey, I need another one from somewhere else

5 levels later: Go, need moar crystals!

Max level: Go into a death trap and investigate something for me because you're totally more capable. Something about people, something about things.

*Congrats, you can ride mounts. Too bad you're going to forget how to use them from one side of the island to the next. lololol*

    The end. Rinse and repeat.
