Question about Aero II and clipping.

Should I be clipping my Stone Spam with ogcd's or using Aero II to weave or double weave them in, since Aero II is instant? I know the potency is 50 but 1 dot tick brings it to 100 potency, So if you think about it it could be the equivalent to Ruin II maybe?

Thoughts on this matter?

It's not an equivalent to Ruin II because Ruin II is 100 potency damage. What you should do is cast it when the timer on Aero II is about to run out and try to use an oGCD then; though, WHM is known to have clipping issues. I generally use oGCDs as I see fit unless I can fit them inside of Aero II's window(which is once every 18s).

Even in the case of SCH, you want to minimize the use of Ruin II since either Miasma II is the better tool to use oGCD with or single oGCD clipping + Broil II is a better option due to the potency difference between Ruin II and Broil II.

I feel the better way to view clipping Aero II is if the potency/GCD is higher than Stone IV. Since Stone IV has a potency of 250 you want at least 4 ticks of Aero II to make the potency / GCD equal (IE, 6s remaining on the Aero II DoT). The logic being you want to pick the best potency / GCD and clipping Aero II at the very beginning of it's DoT duration would be very inefficient GCD usage and you might as well just single clip the oGCD and keep casting Stone IV.

Don't forget Regen is an instant too if Aero II is still up on the boss but your tank could do with a regen, here is your clipping solution!

I actually wish they would remove the DoT and just give it base damage, but I guess that doesn't address the issue at hand.

But yes, due to the spell being instant, low base potency, and GCD dependent, you want to always combine it with an ogcd. I think using it any other way results in a DPS loss unless you're using it outside a rotation when doing mechanics to the fight. I actually always use it after either Stone IV or Aero III, for what essentially feels like a double weave between GCDs.

This is more painful to pull off in the early levels before WHM gets access to their plethora of ogcd skills. Once you have Divine Benison, you can weave this every other Aero II cast and just feels awesome.
