Why make it a GATE? That would only limit you to a one time participation when it's active. It should be a mini game in the gold saucer where you can participate anytime as much as you like. That way they have the chance to add more music scores and different difficulty levels that you can practice.

I thought gate because in Starlight it is a one performance per try format, like a gate. But yeah it doesn't have to be gate only. If they can make it into a permanent minigame the better

random idea popped in my head, they could make it so you need the right orchestrion rolls to be able to play the song, it would bring something to the economy of crafter crafting rolls

I could see it also be used as a gate with the Songbirds, only it's more we're back up dancers or someway involved with the performance.
