    Tsukuyomi Ex bug?

I'm getting to the phase where Tsukuyomi turns the field into the moon, and we get the dark/light debuff stacks.

However, when I try to switch the debuff, it keeps the stack count while changing from dark to light, or light to dark. I observe the other players in the party getting 1 stack of the switched debuff. This is not happening to me. Is this a bug, or is there some small detail I'm missing for it to actually go down to 1?

It *should* be switching every server tick and resetting, so every 3 or so seconds depending on when you stepped into the other field, with no other conditions to trigger it.

Sounds like you got hit with a bug.

Hm...are you switching on time? Sometimes in this fight, server ticks will screw you over if you don't switch on time. It's possible that you may not be standing on the opposite color in time, or you jump off before the server ticks and the game recognizes that you were standing on an opposite color. How consistent is this?

That was my first thought, but reading the OP again it seems they are describing that the debuff is switching from light to dark or back the other way, while also keeping the stack count, which isn't how the fight should be working even if they weren't switching on time or switching back before it has a chance to register.

@OP - is that what is happening? You're switching to the other side, the debuff changes color, AND it keeps the stack?

Ah...I think I might've missed that. If he's keeping the stacks after switching, then yeah, something is off. OP, could you get us a small video? Just show us what it looks like?

Something knows I'm switching on time, because it's switching between the two different style of icon, but it maintains the 4 stacks. Next I get a chance to do runs on that fight again, I'll have to have my OBS running. It happened for all of the 5 runs we got to that phase.

I'm pretty sure what's happening is simply unfortunate timing. The debuff gets updated roughly every 5 seconds, which either results in it gaining a stack or changing to the other side depending on what you're standing on when the update happens. This often means that your last chance to switch to the waning side happens a few seconds earlier than you think.

I remember when Tsuku first came out, I experienced something similar. I play casters (SCH and RDM primarily) so I (sometimes lazily) stayed in the center of the field. When the moon phase of Tsukuyomi EX started, that meant that I was virtually 50/50 on both sides of the arena. I think this wigged out the code that assigns the initial debuffs, because whenever I was basically dead-center at the start of that phase, I would have to move firmly to one side (my debuff would usually swap and keep stacks, as you're describing) then scoot quickly to the opposite color to get it to register before the 5-stack could wipe me out. Sometimes the server tick was on my side, and it would correct before I died. More often... I'd just curse as I watched Naia crumple to the 5-stack debuff timing out.

Ever since I noticed that, though, I took care to stand just enough left or right to be completely on a single moon color, and I haven't had that issue since.

Which isn't to dismiss this as a bug - but if that also applies to you, it might be a user-end solution so you can still enjoy the content while the actual code bug is (hopefully) fixed.

I do distinctly recall being in the exact middle for this phase shift on purpose, because I wanted to be able to change sides as soon as possible. You describing what I did and getting a similar results me indicate what my problem was. I'll have to be more deliberate with being on one side for phase shift when I next get the chance, and see if that helps.
