But, now that I think of it, your suggestion works the same whay that what we have for Geirskogul/Nastrond, so it could work.
The feature applied to anything not Warrior would be new. Taking it from a single ability pair on a single job (2 counting DRG, mines not high enough to confirm) and creating a system by which players can freely choose which skills switch under which conditions on all jobs would be new.
If you like having everything on separate buttons, do that. Drag the skills from your skillpage as you do now.
But if I want to take certain skills, like Blood Weapon and Blood Price and have them switch between each other based on Grit being active or not, I can choose to set my hotbars up to do that.
I would like to see the option to do that extend to weaponskills too. If I've used True Thrust, I want it to flip into Vorpal Thrust for a few seconds (The same duration Vorpal would be lit up right now).

Yes it would be a new feature, requiring the hotbar/UI team to engage in some technical wizardry. The basic system that Warriors have can be expanded upon and released for all jobs to enable better customization of hotbar layouts and keybind accessibility.
While I believe we're running into a bloat issue, others don't.
Making it a customizable option at the player level lets those who feel as I do, that we have too many required keybinds, reduce that keybind count while letting those enjoy having multiple unique keybinds where 1 would suffice can keep doing that. All in a way that has literally zero impact to any jobs mechanical systems. Rotations remain exactly as they are. Entirely unchanged, except I would use a different combination of keybinds to achieve the same result as you would using the current method.
