It could function a lot like the mannequins do now, and allow people a more immersive way to sell food items that would normally show up on the MB.
And to expand on this, it would add a new depth to the game, people on servers and communities in housing areas, making the residential zones feel like real place your characters live. Go to an armor shop completely centered around cute glamours, or armor shops filled with current content penta melded outfits, cheaper than the MB would sell them. Furniture Sellers where you can see the actual items displayed before purchasing, and many more possiblities. I believe it would be a realistic addition to the game, from both a gameplay standpoint and a technical standpoint.
Oh my god I would absolutely do this! I happen to be primarily a CUL and selling the latest foods is how I make most of my gil. Since I tend to make large batches I could easily dedicate some to the restaurant while I put the rest on the MB as normal. <3
I once saw someone use their message book in this way. They encouraged people to leave an "order" and they would fulfill it and deliver it to you as soon as possible. I thought it was a neat idea and their message book had a ton of messages. (I couldn't read them so I'm not sure if it was orders; they deleted them. They stated they would do so as orders are filled so idk.)
