I don't think sexists or racists are monsters. I think sexists and racists are sexists and racists. The point is to cut the problematic behavior, not to determine one thing isn't as bad as the other and therefore nothing should be done about it.

You're also not describing "something you did 15 years ago", but things you've done repeatedly within the lifetime of the game likely since 2.0, which was the 2nd half of 2013. Perhaps even later.

I don't see you as a monster. I see you as likely a person who represents what they themselves are detailing themselves to be, which is someone who has repeatedly demonstrated problematic behavior in need of corrective measures, who has taken on an unreasonable stance of proposing the rules need to change to avoid them getting in trouble.

I'm gonna continue from what I said a page ago...

If you've been getting reported for 3 years, and you haven't worked on the issue - that is a problem that YOU need to work on. 3 years is a long time without making any adjustments. if you have been getting help and as of the present, you are still having problems, then you need to step away from this game (and likely other online games) and work on yourself. I'm no professional, but 3 years and still having emotional outbursts in-game is not a good sign, at all. I don't know why the GMs directed you to the forums, because this really is not the type of discussion meant for the public spectrum, but trying to appeal to the GMs with a second account for a 'just in case' moment does not put you in a kind light.

You know you have a problem. That's good. That's step one. Now you need to follow up and work on addressing it in a serious manner, if you want to address it. And some times, that may mean voluntarily stepping away to get your impulses under control til you are ready to come back - before somebody else does it for you, but on a more permanent basis.

The easiest thing for your situation would be to utilize the blacklist feature. If someone is being toxic to you, or your friends; blacklist them. It makes it so you can't see their text at all. Have your friends do it too.

You can also make certain channels go on certain tabs in your chat log. My former FC leader has hers set up so that Tells and Shout are all on their own tabs and do not show up in her main log. If people's words are what's setting you off, then remove them or filter them so you can keep a clear head.

Now you're getting to the crux of the matter; accountability. But since you're all about context, we need to put it into context of your dilemma.

Suppose you stole a pack of gum 15 years ago. Wrong? Yes. Jail worthy? Maybe scare you with a warning. Now let's suppose 5 years after that, you stole a laptop. Wrong? Yes. Jail worthy? I would hope so.

Now suppose 15 years after stealing that pack of gum, you steal a car and get caught. They produce surveillance video of you stealing the pack of gum and the laptop, and conclude you have a habit of stealing. Wrong? Still wrong. Jail worthy? Get a good lawyer.

Now put all of that into the context of your dealings with a GM over a 3 year period. First instance; warning, but not ban-worthy. Second instance; developing a pattern, but still warning. Third instance; we have a problem here, ban incoming.

It's not a "life time" issue. It's a "repeat offender" issue.

Should people live with mistakes for the rest of their lives? Depends on too many variables. Should people learn from their mistakes? Yes.

Hope_for_Change, you keep saying you have a 'mental illness' that prevents you from controlling yourself, and if that's true, it's a shame and I hope you get the help you need for it.

HOWEVER, you appear to be using that as an excuse or justification for your actions which harm other players, and you can't do that. Even if you sincerely can't stop yourself, other people absolutely do not have to put up with behavior which negatively impacts them, and I'm sorry, but the GMs are doing the right thing by disciplining you for it. It's possible it might entitle you to a very small amount of extra leniency, perhaps one or two 'extra chances', if you were to get banned and bring it up in the appeals process, but even that only goes so far before they're forced to remove you from the game for the sake of the rest of the players.

Personally, I'd lean towards no extra chances, as I've had to deal with more than my fair share of people who use a mental illness as a free pass to do whatever they want, and in my experience they never get better, only worse the more chances you give them. But that's my personal bias speaking, and I'd happily bow to whatever decision our GMs chose to make on the matter.

Hey OP, I read through your posts and concluded the only way to save your account if you can’t control yourself like you say is to delete the chat box from your UI. Sorry dude.

You can hide the window. I don't know about deleting it.

Hello, I've been reported in the past to the point of the next one being an account deletion and thous I feel like I'm unable to even use my main account anymore. This is my second account that I'm working on in the event I do slip up and lose everything. Each time I've been reported on my main account besides the first time ever have all been caused by someone else provoking me into the situation and it is not hard to make me upset and start to say things I don't mean. What I'm about to suggest would make it so that I won't feel as if I do slip up or someone takes something I say out of context, that I won't lose my main with almost 800 days of play time on. Well here is my idea for a new ban system. Currently the system is something like this. First time is a warning depending on what you're being reported for. Second time is a 24 hour ban, third time is a 48 hour ban while the forth is up to 1 week depending on what the report is and then after that, the last time is your account deleted for ever. What I'm suggesting is that you keep everything as is but change the deleted account into a 1 month long ban depending on what your being reported for. Things that would be a account deletion would include but not limited to, Hate speech, death threats, botting, hacking, RWTing. All of my bans have been made because I have extreme emotions so it is easy to set me off when someone is attacking my friends or another player who I'm siding with against the toxic player. My last report not long ago was because I told someone who was being toxic to a tank in o12s for not tanking the way this player expected. When we backed out and the tank left, I told this player to F off before leaving myself. This resulted me me being contacted by GMs and could of been the end of my account. It's not fair that I could lose my account all thanks to a lack of context. I understand my words said was not the right ones at the time but like I said, I'm really emotional and I end up speaking with out thinking most of the time so now I'm kinda forced off of my main in fear of for ever losing it due to my mental health. Please take a look at the banning times and rework it so that you will not lose your account unless it is a serious rule break like the ones I listed above. Here is another Idea that would give me some peace at mind. Have it so that after x amount of time without being reported you could take bans off your record. For example say I'm on my last warning but I've been good for a couple of months with no problems, my account would be reset back to as if I've not been reported before so that next time if I did get reported it would be a 1 day ban and not account deletion. I've learn to be nice and report people who are being toxic now but before I wasn't well informed on all of the rules that I broke. Please change something for people like me who got upset over someone saying/doing something to upset me and make me say things I should not of.
Uhm how about you just start cursing for yourself instead of writing it in the chat? Just stop typing in the chat if you are getting angry and you can't control yourself.

While i agree that some of these rules don't make sense or how the rules get enforced is not seldom way over the top, SE won't change any of their rules for anyone.
