Maybe I am misunderstanding or simply lack context but it seems as if you are using mental health as an excuse for poor behavior, which it is not. When I went through ABA that is a key factor they made clear. My lack of understanding when it comes to social cues or context is not a free pass to say or do anything. People may understand others may not, either way our actions are our own and we have to live with the consequences.
