Some notes about Ultima and Heart of Sabik

This was the device inside the Ultima Weapon that allowed for the casting of the massively destructive spell - Ultima.

We know little about the Heart of Sabik, but doing a bit of research...

Eta Ophiuchi is part of a multiple star system designated WDS J17104-1544. It itself is designated WDS J17104-1544AB and its two components WDS J17104-1544A (also named Sabik.

So in real life there is a constellation known as Ophiuchus, which and has been thought of by some to be the 13th zodiac sign (because as stars drift and spread over thousands of years, Ophiuchus now fits between Sagittarius and Capricorn. Ophiuchus is the symbol of the "serpent-bearer". In Final Fantasy Tactics, the story revolved around the Zodiac Braves and 12 holy stones that could grant the wielder enormous powers but also possessed them with demons. The 12 stones were named after zodiac signs and carved with their symbols. There was a hidden 13th stones wielded by Elidibus at the bottom of Deep Dungeon (Midlight's Deep), and his zodiac sign was "Serpentarius", which was later re-translated as Ophiuchus in the War of Lions translation. His ultimate attack was a Summon Magick called Zodiark.

Anyway, there's a star within this constellation called Sabik. So we know that Ultima might be a power steeped in Darkness. Additionally, the quote Lahabrea says when casting Ultima was something along the lines from "From the deepest pit of the seven hells to the very pinnacle of the heavens, the world shall tremble!". The incantation from FFT for casting Ultima was roughly translated as "Open the 7 gates to the tower of power", which I think is a nice reference. I think Lahabrea also said that Ultima was tiny fragment of Zodiark's power.

Now with the conclusion of Return to Ivalice, the big question is how the Heart of Sabik connects to Ultima the High Seraph. I somehow doubt it was a piece of auracite.

It could be as simple as a civilization predating Allag created it following study of Ultima the High Seraph and her magic, which is supposed to be an impossibility on Hydaelyn. The Allagans could have then discovered it and, in their study of the Heart and Omega, created Ultima Weapon. If Lahabrea was right about the spell being tied to Zodiark, and the FFT incantation about throwing wide the gates is relevant to what's been happening to the Scions, things get more complicated.
