Mandrake Seeds & Luck of the Pioneer

I went to go gather Mandrake Seeds as they're a little pricey on my server atm. I figured I'd use the normal trick - Leaf Turn 3 + Luck of the Pioneer - only to realize that the only item being uncovered was Midland Basil Seeds.

I figured maybe it depended on the item I was gathering, since I had been gathering Basil, so I switched to gathering Mandrake but nope. The only time I got Mandrake seeds to pop up was when it appeared naturally on the nodes.

So what gives? Luck of the Pioneer states that it will uncover a nodes' hidden items, plural. Is it just impossible to have two seeds appear at once on a node? And if so why does it always pick basil to show? Has anyone found any sort of logic behind this? Since retainers can only get 1 seed per 40 minutes for some godforsaken reason and seeds are rare to pop up naturally on the node, this makes it a huge pain.

It's been a while since I've gathered seeds but my guess is mandrake are rare seeds which means they have a random chance to appear but not hidden while basil are hidden seeds that are always there. Luck of the Pioneer only affects hidden items.

Mandrake & Midland Basil seeds are both Hidden Rare. Interestingly enough, when I was running around just opening nodes normally to find a Mandrake seed to check, Midland Basil showed up way more often. I wonder if Luck just picks one or the other and Mandrake is just intentionally set to be rarer.

I remember having a similar issue awhile back. I remember having the idea to wait for a node where the bad seed spawned, then using Luck to uncover the good seed. I dont remember if it worked. I might have just brute forced it.

Had the same issue with Midland Cabbage - I finally settled for sending out my botanist retainer to get the seeds I want.

The one time I went to gather midland basil seeds I got more mandrake seeds. When I want mandrake, basil pops 2 - 3 X as often.

I have never seen two different seeds at the same time at an ARR node.

I wish they would make ARR normal node seeds work like elemental seeds.

Yeah, it's far beyond time for them to update how ARR seeds work. There's no reason to gate these so much, especially with how many recipes now rely on complicated crosses. At least almonds don't have this problem.

Farmed for 5 Earth hours. Mandrake seeds only popped during Dusk ET. Never at night or early morning. Never saw them with LotP.
