Every time a new "feature" is announced I can't stop remembering how Chocobo training ended up and quickly lose my interested.

I thought people were being overly negative again but then you reminded me about the fc airship situation. Ok fair point that came out far below expectations. I really wish they'd at least do some QoL on it; let me enter Diadem gathering mission solo, let me progress workshop projects solo. The arbitrary restrictions on those things badly hurt them. You can't turn solo interactions into group content by putting party restrictions on them; there has to be some kind of purpose for other people to be involved or they won't want to. It's probably for the best that they abandoned future development on weaponised airship building and exploratory missions since fc content would always be unfair to people who don't have an fc estate or don't have the rank/privilege of accessing the ships.

I anticipate it being like getting to purchase a plot, and setting it to be a large chunk of gardening nodes instead of a house. You could easily fit like 128 garden points in the space of a small house.
Greetings and salutations, adventurers.

Are you picturing that happening in the actual housing wards though? Aside of the overall demand for plots, the system might not be able to handle so many interactive objects loaded into one space.
Even with the current housing wards, we have a strict limit on how many garden beds we can place - we're not allowed to fit in as many as we can physically place in the garden.
If we had a setup like that, it would have to be instanced somewhere.
(And also would definitely need a more efficient way of mass planting/watering/harvesting.)
This is what I'm hoping for. Any size housing plot, with no house, all garden patches instead. You could also place a small house on a larger plot if you wanted, and use the rest of the outdoor space for gardening.
This would be the simplest solution, adjust some numbers in the existing housing system.
I'd definitely try to buy a plot if this was the case. Add a garden shed that can be used to store seeds, harvests, and tools. I'd buy a large plot and spend most of my time there farming and getting rich![]()

I think some of you should lower your expectations. Player run farm wasn't even announced as a big feature, not even a slider, it was a short side comment that was brushed away very quickly to continue talking about other major features. If SE didn't consider it big enough to have a proper announcement expect a very basic system, probably no much different than retainer ventures or chocobo raising, a few clicks and waiting for your mats.

I'm not saying that it's a major feature, but what you said is just incorrect. The 'slide' was about Disciples of Land and Hand getting new content. It was general without getting in-depth for anything. Using that as argument that it's nothing major is like saying that beast tribes or dungeons won't be anything big because they didn't get talked about much either.
The fact of the matter is that it was just one Live Letter, with another part soon enough. And only one of three Fan Fests. They're obviously going to avoid talking about things. Farms may get more recognition in a number of other venues.
So yes, don't get your hopes up, but for a different reason than what you wrote.
I seem to recall them letting it slip at Fanfest EU that Farms would involve minions in some way. I believe it will be some kind of animal farm rather than gardening
