    Blue Mage

I'm surprised the topic hasn't been raised here yet.

Where do you guys think Blue Mage comes from? Jobs typically have some connection to a nation or city, and I'm really interested in seeing where Blue Mage originates from. I've seen a few theories here and there.

Sharlayan: This one strikes me as one of the more likely cases, since scholars who study monsters and magic by being exposed to it does seem to be something I could see Sharlayans doing. The outfit looks like it would also fit in with Sharlayan designs, though it is also similar to Red Mage's style, which brings me to the next theory.

Ala Mhigo: The outfits for Red and Blue Mages are strikingly similar, and we know that the Ala Mhigans were a strong, hardy people who lived rough lives. I could see them taking a Thousand Needles to the face to figure out how to do it. There's also the obvious connection of Rhauban having been a Blue Mage in FFXI.

Ishgard: This seems a bit of a long-shot and mostly is predicated on the idea that the only person we've seen wielding a cane (which we now know is the Blue Mage weapon), is the former Count Fortemps.

Carnivale, so mummers, clowns, probably gypsies of some sort. From the attire, I'd say they've Ul'dahn or Ala Mhigan ties, possibly Thavnairian or Ilsabardian.

Well... since MCH exists the way it does, I was hoping Blue Mage would sort of follow suit in the same manner.

When we get to Ishgard and unlock MCH we are basically coming in, in the middle of it being formed as a "job". Even the job crystals states: "Unlike other soul crystals, the surface of this multi-aspected stone has yet to be carved with the record of past deeds."

What if BLU ends up being something similar to it? BUT... this time we actually get to be there and HELP bring this job to life! IMO that would be so stellar and amazing to be there at the birth of a new "job" in Hydaelyn!

Again just my crazy crack-pot theory lol and something I'd really like to see!

So basically, we are collecting Blue Magic for the first time for future Blue Mages? This is how people get remembered in legends...

I'll never give up the dream of Count Edmont being our Blue Mage trainer. I mean, he's got a cane...cane = symbol of nobility...also a symbol of Blue Mage...

this could explain why blue mage cant do end game content imagine it you have a job never seen on hydaelyn so we would be for lack of a better term taking it for a test drive seeing what its capable of. ( maybe not but dosen't matter ill still play it regardless)

at about the same time and place as red magic was founded

because that would add to the lore on the job icon colours we use today

aka red mage dps , all dps red icons

while blue mage is limited it sounds like you can build it with the right skills into at tank of sorts and tanks of course have a blue icon
who knows they might have a job stem form blue mage in the future

also opens the door for a green mage for the healer icons colour

The images included in the recent Letter From the Producer LIVE digest show what appears to be the Masked Carnivale at an arena with Ul'dahn flags on it, so it seems Ul'dah will be where the Job is gained again, like RDM and SAM were (not surprising given that lore-wise Ul'dah is meant to be the centre of Eorzean trade and culture).

Curiously though, it is clearly not the Colleseum, but an entirelly new arena (although the Colleseum is specifically a GLA arena, little wonder BLU gets it's own).

Lore wise, it's anyone's guess. Ul'dah itself could easily fit the bill with both the THM and ALC Guilds being based there and could easily team up to create a new magical Discipline based on learning enemy natures, although I cannot discount Thavnair being an origin of the Job, as what we know of Thavnair seems to resemble Aht Urhgan in FFXI which is where FFXI's version of the Job came from. We'll find out in a few months either way.
