That doesn't mean they do everything alone. BLU also can be anything you want it to when you have all the abilities but before that you would still need some help from other players. Having healing magic doesn't make you a healer, having defensive cooldowns doesn't make you a tank. BLU is actually still DPS if you think about it in that perspective.

I personally believe that limited jobs will take some time but it's not forever locked out of random matchmaking, so it's good to have roles to support that.

Blue mage isn't a DPS though. It's whatever spells you have learned and used. Blue mage doesn't fit the holy Trinity because it can use monster abilities, like if they steal all the healing abilities it can heal same with tanking abilities, it can tank.
