The longest part of the grind is the regular crystals. Light farming is a cakewalk even if you're just spamming NMs.
The issue with Pagos is basically the NM's themselves. They don't reliably spawn once the conditions are met and the re-spawn timers are long.
I recently had a new(er) instance where we prepped 6 NM's and nothing spawned in 30 minutes.
That's just not fun.
Not if the NM's aren't spawning.
Yup. Light is easy enough to come by, I got 5 bars in 45 minutes today. That's step 1 done. A good instance can net you almost all you need. The issue is the pagos crystals as you will run out of them very very quickly. I done pagos from day 1 to pyros day 1 almost everyday for a good 2 hrs minimum a day and only had enough for 5 weapons before I ran out and had to dedicate time to going to fates. Had all the light and have 43 ice but only have 300 pagos crystals now for number 6.
I'm not too bothered though and am More focused on pyros now than pagos.
It's really not that bad if you actually farm light with the chaining of mobs such as doing Forge and Dragon farming. It's only really long if one were to sit at ICEPOINT like many do waiting for nm's solely an getting their light that way. Personally I expect to see them nerf light again pretty soon. It is a deterrent to getting multiple weapons for many who have earned quite a few in Anemos.
Relative to crystals I think Pyros is a lot worse than Pagos with 650 needed as opposed to 500 and with Pyros NM's being pretty stingy with rewarding them. It's not so bad with the first weapon but multiples are an effort.
And I might add in my case I've decided to spend time in Pagos each week capping tomes while also spending that time crystal and light farming for additional relics.

Light is easy to get. The biggest problem is the regular crystals. I mean snow queen is the first NM you can do when entering pagos and it gives only 1.
With Louhi giving out 20 which is the maximum. My guess is come 4.5 they will nerf it to 250. But I doubt they will touch the light requirements until 4.55
Guess I have the opposite problem... I have 700 regular crystals, only 4 frosted. ;_;
You can always solo light farm by syncing to the low level bunny fate after you kill a mob. It takes a few tries to get it right but is rather easy to do when you end up in an instance with a low population. I finished my entire light phase in Pagos in two sittings earlier this week. I always recommend doing NM's when they are up or getting into an NM party in a highly populated instance, but solo light farm is easy and relatively fast if no one else is on.
