Things that make me go HMMMM... And why they are not in the game yet.

    Hello Reader,

You have stumbled upon my rant of things I wish were in the game, or should have been here since the start. This is my first forum post, but I have looked through the collection of posts and stayed relatively quiet. But after SO many hours of playing this game, I have stumbled across a lot of little things, or big depending on your point of view, issues or mechanics. Things that makes me go Hmmmm... Why is this not in the game? Why is this here but not here, etc, etc...

So with that being said, here is this list, and
1.) Why is there no Cross-Class Glamouring allowed yet?
This is asinine. I have seen defenders, because of lore or it wouldn't fit in the game, just as a Roeg male, running with a leopard print speedo and Chocobo helmet, wielding huge axe saunters ready to tank Bahamut. I wanna put through a wall. This should be here, it would great, allows for HUGE customization options, and since I know this is possible without crashing the game (Saving the try-on feature, the game didn't instantly implode) just allow us to do it in some way, please.

2.) Toggle emotes to be persistent or have male / female / race options
Why the hyur suffers the worst emote expressions make me cry, and the fact that female highlander has the tracker crouch and no one less may have this beautiful emote is a sin on humanity. I want to look like Batman when I perch myself in Rhalger Reach with my Dun Scaith Helmet of Fending, ready to dish out justice to the unsavouries. Or the fact that the female Dark Knight have the front and center sword pose frustrates me to no end. I want to post up somewhere looking like I own the joint too.

    3.) Duel Anywhere.
Just drop a nice fat PVP circle in a location, and if you run out it cancels the encounter, and you instead of death you are dropped to 1 HP, before receiving a nice HP regen shortly after. Cannot be activated when in combat, and have a button that either auto-declines a challenge or just grays out the option to other players. would be nice, then on top of that have Group vs Group PvP. Just for fun, would be nice, be nice for guild wars, etc.

4.) Hall of the Adept / Hall of the Masters.
Sweet googly moogly shoogly do we need this. Some things I have seen players do... Because they were taught make me cry. Tanks that don't use Rampart... DPS that don't use Diversion... Healers that don't Esuna debuffs. Why people stare at the eye and get stoned, why people don't stack and didn't know that's what the marker meant. This stuff needs to be hammered into people. And a Hall fo Adept and Masters would be a great place for that...

5.) Unlocking the Z-Axis on house.
Just let us go nuts with what we can do, when glitching achieves the same goals... The crazy housing options would rocket up. Like a house filled with a bunch of those creepy dolls and papers that form a nice circle wit ha single black mage underneath a candle in a dark room... Huh...

6.) One buttons Combos (or Macros Buttons to be customized.)
Button Bloat is still here, why not condense combos that can be done to ONE button. Or have that we can make Chain Macro button presses... Where if I hit x it change the button to y. AND if you seriously think GCD = SKILL... You shush your face. It's what you do with your off GCD's that makes or breaks a player. Doing mechanics correctly is what makes a good player, knowing when to do an ability makes a good player...

7.) Give me what the information of what I am gaining when I invest in Direct Hit, Crit Hit, Piety, Skill Speed ect.
WHY. This is the hugest offense I will never understand, What do these number even mean? What is 1800 Crit Hit from 1700 Crit Hit? What is 900 Piety to 2000 Piety? What is the value I am gaining, what is this mitigating when in contrast to other stats? I just slap on the materia of the week without experiencing because I don't know what these numbers mean in the game. If I know I'm gaining .12% crit for every 100 points of Direct Hit, but 10 more damage for investing in determination, I WOULD think about the material I just blindly shoving in my armor with no rhyme or reason.

I just don't understand... BIG FAT RANT. I know, but this among other things are sort of head-scratchingly weird to not have or just not a thing. But that is my opinion. And it just makes me go Hmmm sometimes.

Why are there tons of garden decoration options themed for residential areas like Shirogane, Lavender Beds and Mist but none for Goblet besides a tree? It's like the devs didn't even like the region enough to design anything for it.

... I know it's super petty. It just grates me 'cause I just bought a plot there and stupidly thought I could make a succulent garden.

100% agree with this. This is a possibly good example of "solo" content. New, harder halls at extreme or even savage difficulty, designed to be completed solo (maybe with the help of a npc or 2) that require players to actually know how combat works in non-trivial content. Ideally halls should be different depending on the role (tanks, healers, melee and ranged dps) and after all the challenges of a specific hall are completed, the reward would be the mentor crown that right now is completely pointless.

I don't agree with this. This would make many jobs feel even more similar then they already are, especially the melee dps jobs. Better find other ways to reduce button bloat, which is indeed a problem, especially for controller users.

Agreed, but they probably don't do this because it would make even more apparent how inferior some substats are, completely destroying the illusion of stats customization.

It's a mixed bag and depends on the specific actions. As a PLD, I wouldn't want the streamlined combos that PLD has in PVP, because my 3 PVE combos are interesting, play off each other, and I might change them on the fly. On the other hand, RDM's melee combo in PVP is unquestionably superior to the PVE version. There is absolutely no reason for each ability to be a different button when you will never, under any circumstances, use Redoublement before first using Zwerchhau or Zwerchhau before Riposte.

I'd love if they finished fully redesigning the Goblet outside the middle area, and then gave us items (not just placeables but also fences because the Goblet has by far the worst fences for residences in the game) that fit the theme. Or hell give us unique grass textures. The water bill must be enormous in the Goblet with all those verdant green lawns.

Yeah I'd love that too. I was lucky enough to get plot 20 (waterfall and pool area), but the rest of the hill side plots really leave a lot to be desired. Could be a really beautiful zone overall if it was given more attention.

All of these things can be attributed to one thing:

    Server limitations™

If they changed the game's code in any way the servers may catch fire and many hamsters would die.

Big dislike. We have combos with forks and different positional requirements. I find it very hard to keep track what part of the combo I'm at if it's all one button, learned this the hard way in PvP. I very much don't want to see this become mainstream. I prefer the forked combo design instead of having 3 separate combos to achieve the same thing. The whole combo system would need to be revamped and it wouldn't reduce button bloat, at least not without reducing complexity.

I can only think of a few instances where the forked combos really come into play, Namely monk wouldn't need for macro chains. Most chains have a start, middle and ender button, nothing more complex past that. Using attacks outside the combo is just something that never happens.

To give an example, right now Paladins have 5 keys for three combos, The Dot, The Damage and the enmity combo. You can reduce this to three keys with a key chain for each chain ender. Or two if you allow the enmity chain to change the last part to be either the D.O.T over Damage button upon using the middle button. This is mostly coming from a person that plays melee classes as well, where I find PvP chains to be oddly strange to just not be a choosable feature. If people want to stick to a five button thing, that's fine. But the option for others to tighten up there buttons and focus *oof on the macro play, and focus on the encounter, not if I accidentally used my ender instead of my middle would be a nice refresh.

Hence the push for a customizable macro for it then a full implementation across the board. Personally, I would just have it for select classes to just reduce the buttons overall. Some of them I won't use without another button previous (Like melee combos, and some actions for Archer -IE. The dots- )

I agree but I think there should be caveats. Mainly, to use a piece of Glamour of another class, you need to have that class at equal level or higher than the glamour. As an example, if I want my White Mage to glamour into level 70 Paladin armor, I need my WHM to be level 70, AS WELL as having the paladin Class leveled to 70. It wouldnt sit right with me if someone could glamour into an armor they cant even wear.

I agree with this. Again with caveats. Every emote in all variations should be made available. However the way it should work is that the race you start with has those race specific emotes unlocked. After that, you must do other things (like Gold Saucer) to unlock the rest. Fantasia will not net you the new emotes either. Also along these same lines, hairstyles should be treated the same. Race specific hairstyles are automatically unlocked for your start race, but the rest have to be purchased/aquired, regardless of Fantasia.

Agree. But I think this might actually be an engine limitation with how the game codes for PvP vs PvE. Id love to see it but I dont see how theyd manage this without an overhaul of the PvP/PvE limitations.

Im not big on this one because I think it oversimplifies the game. The true issue is power creep and the failure to adjust the dungeons from ARR. From my perspective, when I played the game starting out what I noticed was the dungeons felt like they had certain gimmicks to them. They were there to teach the players certain aspects to the game. Things like proper aggro management, how to range pull, using Cool downs more effectively, etc etc. However due to power creep and the allowance of letting people blast through content in a second, these lessons are lost to players. They need to retune dungeons to start forcing these lessons back into the game, instead of doing the "One Stop Shop" method, because I dont feel people actually learn anything from those. People learn more from wiping in content than they do from an NPC telling them what to do.

Sure why not. I get the Devs want an aesthetic feel to the game, but using your example of the burly roe in a chocobo helmet, that kind of throws their whole point out the window.

No, I dont want the combos brought down to one skill on a rotation for two reasons. One is that actually wont solve the bloat issue cause thatll just free up the bar for more hotkeys down the road, and 2 I dont like the feel of it. Also, managing your GCDs in conjunction with your oGCDs to prevent clipping is part of the skill factor.

I would like this personally. If theres an issue with certain stats being better, then thats a balance issue SE should address. I want to know how much crit Im getting with the stats Im adding as an example.
