40+ skill ups?

Hey all. I usually set what skill ups I'll be doing ahead of time to be prepared. Looking at the Culinarian recipes, they all seem to be ridiculous. I can't find anything decent to level up on 40+ without an insane amount of mats. Besides leves, what else do you guys recommend? Should I wait til the new patch to see if any easier recipes come out?

3 options:

A) If you have fishing: Mugwort Carp to 50 (slow)

B) Leves

C) Wait for new recipes

I'd personally wait. There will be more recipes to fill in the gaps (dated everything needs to be phased out but it won't be because there just aren't enough filler recipes). That is IMO, I'm not sure about CUL

Hmm. Thanks for the quick responses guys. I think I'm gonna throw some caravan wins, Ifrit, and Moogle wins into the mix.

sorry to say but leves are by far your best bet, high level CUL recipes aren't very grind-friendly. that said i did ok with Stuffed Cabbage (better stock up on bat wings), but again...ya leves till the end of time

Unfortunately, all the high level fish you can use to do sand are missing from the game so Cul gets a bit screwed here. However there are a couple more options, though they are far from optimal.

Do leves to get black pepper and stock pile it. A lot of the higher recipes need it.

You can also gather desert saffron if you have a midrange botanist (from Nophica/Halatali) and do pastry fish. All the rest of the items are pretty easy to obtain and you can spam this one from 40 until you are ready to do crowned cakes.

From 45 on, did leves in uldah (repeatable and no guild support needed).. w/reward bonus should equal to about 5k per leve (or 1k per synth if you like breaking it down).. keep repeating it until no longer avail.. grab guild support and head to grid, do the same thing over there.. can easily do 5 leves a hour which comes 25k.. not bad imo.. hope that helps

also there will be days where you can only do it one or two times, then becoming unavailable, but be persistant good luck w/it and hope that helps you

yeah.. i should of stated that, but does not need "guild" support which is nice cause you dont have to waste the anime or time getting so..

as the guy says, supports real close too so its not a hassle at all getting imo

nice trick with this is when your doing the 45 leve for him, if it disappears from the list,

drop down into the 20s and do it for him, after 1 or 2 tries it will bump back to the 45, if you got a good chunk of leve allowance....

also, baked sole is awesome control food for crafters,

crowned cake is tougher cuz of the goldsmith subjob craft requirement (i had to level my gSM to 24 before attempting cakes)
